    What continues to amaze me is the following...

    Netcraft reports that SCO's own website is running on Linux.

    SCO is still apart of UnitedLinux

    SCO's own phone number is 1-888-GO-LINUX

    They sure have their hands in a lot of Linux for it being so "illegal".

    This is all a scare tactic. SCO knows their days are numbered. In fact, their stock lost 25% of it's value today because of Novell's press release.

    The bottom line is this...

    SCO is dying faster than all the BSDs put togther.

    1. Don't install Telnet, TFTP, RSH, RLOGIN or anyother clear text services.
    2. Disable remote root login.
    3. Use IP Tables and TCP Wrappers.
    4. On "gateways", bind services to local interfaces only.
    5. Use a strong password.
    6. Don't install unused services (Example: Do you really need a BIND or SMTP server on your laptop?).
    7. One word... up2date (www.redhat.com).
    8. One word... www.chkrootkit.org.
    9. Monitor your log files (seriously all of them /var/log).
    10. Anything windows based is a security nightmare (and no that's not a troll).

    And don't forget about all the great _free_ tools out there: nmap, ethereal, tripwire, logwatch.

    Google search for any of the above pointers that are not slef explanitory.

    Step 1. Caldera buys SCO.
    Step 2. Flush SCO down the toilet, Linux and OpenUNIX rules!
    Step 3. Caldera Linux and OpenUNIX sales aren't so good.
    Step 4. Rebrand as SCO and embrace Linux (if embrace = SuSe's distro ~s/SuSe/SCO/)
    Step 5. SCO Linux sales aren't to good, but we still own UNIX IP.
    Step 6. Sue IBM, get them to buy us out for our UNIX IP.
    Step 7. Read GPL.
    Step 8. Woops, we GPL'd our way out of a case.
    Step 9. Strip ourselves of Linux so M$ will give us money.
    Step 10. Start a FUD war funded by M$.
    Step 11. ???
    Step 12. Profit?
