Yeah, I think anyone that has ever done any map making or modding starts with something familiar. I, just as MANY others, made a Duke3D map of my high school. I graduated the same year columbine happened, and I was looked upon as one of "those different kids", so I know people were looking at me wondering if I had a list. Fear of the unknown. However, I didn't kill anyone, I've never thought about SERIOUSLY killing anyone (though we get those thoughts from time to time, "I'd really like to kill that bastard..."), Imagine, someone who played, and still plays video games, some of them "violent", and I'm not a psycho. According to this logic, I should be in prison now, instead of an upstanding member of society that I turned out to be.
I have several weapons in my home. Guns, knives, swords...I play video games to relieve stress and tension. Sometimes there's nothing better than to come home from a long day at work, have a beer, and blow something up in a virtual world. If the guy from VT HAD played violent video games, it just would have been a moot point anyways. Anyone who plays a video game and goes and shoots someone was messed up to begin with. We need to get to the root of the problem here. Parenting. I wasn't allowed to play video games when I was young unless my parents were around. It was usually my dad. They made sure that I knew the difference between fantasy and reality, and made me go outside and play with my friends. Now this kid is probably going to be scarred for life from this crap, and not have a chance to make anything of himself, because he's got this black mark on him now. I agree that this is turning into the Salem witch hunts all over again. Always looking for something that isn't there...
I used to be able to get a hold of tons of the old PII and PIII metal stickers so they are on everything in my house. Speakers, TV, DVD player, you name it, it's driven by pentium. Even my wallet has Pentium III inside. My laptop on the other hand has a huge orange "Biohazard - May contain sharps" sticker on it.
That's totally incorrect, at least in Wisconsin. If a person has a knife, and you shoot him, it is perfectly legal. If he has nothing, you're guilty of murder. You can step up the use of force one level to what the attacker is using. If he is unarmed, OC or another intermediate weapon can be used using only enough force to subdue the attacker. If he's unarmed and you beat him within an inch of his life with a baton, you're probably be brought up on charges. If he has a weapon that can readily and easily inflict great bodily harm or death (gun, knife, bat etc..) then you can respond at that same level. And it doesn't matter if it's in your home or not. Of course, if someone attacks you with a knife, and you shoot him, and you're NOT at home, the police may want to know why you had the gun in the first place. The shit about Wisconsin (and maybe other states) is that if the guy is in your home, and an unarmed man breaks in, and you shoot him, you'll probably be brought up on charges. Protection of property is not reason enough for that use of force. I don't necessarily agree, but that's the way it is.
This is how I remember it. I was looking for a new PC right about the time the RD and SD struggle was heating up. I bought a PIII with SD in it because it was cheaper. I hadn't done much research on it because I had heard RD was only good for servers or graphics. I would have bought AMD, but I really didn't know jack about them. I suspect that this happened to a lot more people than just me. Now maybe other companies did conspire against them. Fine, I'll give them that. But if the technology is indeed better for servers and those kind of applications, then why is SCSI still doing just fine and RD is dead? I'm a hardcore gamer, and latency is where it's at for me. I'm not going to knock RD just because I don't use it, but I don't have a use FOR it. Plenty of people swear by it, and that's fine. But I can't abide a company that would do what it did. By that I mean licensing behind JEDEC's back, not suing others.
Oh, and I better see some damn evidence like PRONTO if and when this case actually begins. I don't want to have to wait for months for the "evidence" like SCO.
Big Trouble in Little China, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, The Last Starfighter, The Crow (THE FIRST ONE), Gross Pointe Blank, Evil Dead 1 & 2, Army of Darkness, Enemy Mine, UHF, Snatch, Beastmaster, He-Man, Spaceballs, Robin Hood Men in Tights, Blazing Saddles, Flash Gordon, Flight of the Navigator, The Explorers, Re-Animator, Better off Dead, Conan the Barbarian, Midnight Run, and Death Race 2000. I stole a few of these from some other posts, but since they are pretty much Cult Classics, that's ok.
I don't know what's sadder, the fact I remember all these or the fact that I own most of them on DVD!

CPU Temp Monitor and Fan Controller in mine along with the Audigy Drive bay, CD Burner, and DVD drive, all 4 of my 5.25 bays are full oddly enough.
