If Microsoft tries to sue McAfee, Symantec, etc. for violating this patent, they will countersue Microsoft for all the patents they got on fundamental stuff years ago. It just won't happen. What we have is a sort of "old boys network" where they all agree to not sue each other.
The real point of getting patents on these kind of fundamental technologies is to prevent new players (that don't have huge patent portfolios) from entering the market.
Actually I thought that was originally so they could get their listings separated from those of their competitors in print listings like TV Guide. Basically their "8:00pm show" was under a separate 8:05pm time heading, separate from the bunch of shows under the 8:00pm heading.
On the SWE3 trailer front, not all prints have it attached. My wife saw The Incredibles at one show, and I saw it at another (we have a 4-mo. old, so we see movies in shifts:) ), and she got to see it and I did not. I'd ask before you buy your ticket if that's super-important to you.
No, he's not dead according to the web pages I looked at. He is, however, wanted by the U.S. Government for "violating" the UN sanctions against Yugoslavia when he played Spassky in 1992. I guess it's because the purse was put up by Yugoslavia and he was technically "trading" with them. Oh, the lameness...
Wouldn't it be cool if reclusive chess grandmaster Bobby Fischer actually ended up playing as one of the "peons"? Or better yet, if all this voting crap (that probably won't work anyways) was just a ploy to let him play Kasparov without the world knowing it?
