1) Find the penis-enlarger's website.
2) Post it to Slashdot as "EU bans Microsoft" or "Linux on Desktop Really Catching On"
3) Watch them crumble under the weight of the gnomes
Five years ago, Slashbots bitched when IE was the best browser out there and yet was being included with Windows. Five years later, Slashbots bitch that Microsoft hasn't improved on that browser.
So Slashbots bitch when a company moves to secure a monopoly and when they abuse that monopoly? Damn those fickle Slashdot readers...
It's a bit unbalaced to list applications for Linux as so much ships with the distributions but so little is handcuffed to them. But here's what I seem to use the most:
I'll tell you exactly how they think... goes something like this:
1)Wait for contest beginning
2)Go to bed
3)Check usual places for today's vulnerability
4)Exploit
It doesn't matter how recent the patches are when truck-sized security holes are announced almost daily.
if it requires special kernel compiles? That's fine for Linux but, assuming Xen proves useful at all, how much future support will it have from MS? I'm surprised they helped out at all in light of their recent purchase of VirtualPC.
In the near term though, it'll be pretty cool to run XP and Linux... someday as "for the moment, you only get to run multiple copies of Linux on Xen"
Thanks for all that but I believe the intention of this article isn't to claim that "Gaming has arrived on Linux!" but rather this is one mechanism for that change.
"I regret to accounce the project commonly known as the 'Total Information Awareness Act' sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security has been completely dismantled today due to budgetary constraints and consummate public outcry. While the project itself dismantled civil rights and destroyed personal privacy under an unaccountable veil of secrecy, my administration takes great pride in its unifying results.
Rarely in history have so many voices come together for a single cause. Rarely have the party lines been so obliterated for the common good. My administration takes sole responsibility for this unification and we will make it our number one goal to provide equally if not even more insideous legislation so all of the nation may once again shout out in a single voice! By the time my term is up there will be no 'Democrats' or 'Republicans', only 'us' and 'them'. Remember my election day promises when it's time to place your vote: I am a unifier, not a divider.
They're throwing around all these inflated statitics about how many people use their service and number of searches and what not. It's all PR! The only people using their search are those that type their searches straight into the IE address bar and that's about 75% of Windows users I'd say. I've never heard anyone claim that MSN is their search engine of choice. Noone actually *chooses* to use MSN search... probably because it's not that good.
They'll have to iron out regular web searching before any of their gadgets and toys will be taken seriously.
This is silly. I am suing all males of the human species, because their penis infringes upon my own penis's "functional structure" (although I admit that due to their vastly smaller size, our structures are different).
I see this post was written in a different language where "smaller" really means "incredibly larger", kind of like post-fix. I dismiss the case.
The commercial showing the thing scaling Everest and fighting off bears. The two people I know of here at work that own SUVs are both petite women from the burbs one of which I doubt even cuts her own grass.
It's the resurgence of the "play dumb" defense

Of course they're all going to say they didn't know they were doing anything wrong! What did you expect? That is the simplest and most straight forward excuse in the books -- blame someone else. While some are truely confused I find it hard to believe that 4 million people honestly believe a one time $30 payment gets them thousands of dollars of retail music for free.
I hear ya. I got a ReplayTV back when Tivo and Replay were first coming out. Now the only thing on it are the 10 newest episodes of Friends (girlfriend), 5 Will and Grace (girlfriend), Scrubs (that's me), and Simpsons.
With the shows coming out on DVD fairly quickly now, I find my Netflix membership far more useful than my PVR.
That's actually a great idea!

Oh yeah, 3a) Profit!

Regardless of their intentions it's a stupid BS patent that should've never been awarded floating in a sea of other stupid BS patents.
In the anti-MS vein, even if it is a defensive patent, what do you think MS would do if their back was against the wall?

I entered my special Metallica code and it sent me to http://kazaalite.tk/.
Hey, Darl will get exactly the same punishment as Key Lay... absolutely nothing.

Man, just use Winsht under Wine already!

Was that correct, Mr. Cheney? OK, great."

I drove my Geo Metro 115000 miles... it IS slow by any rating.

And and firing a gun is nothing like on the PS2 either! I mean you have to pull the trigger on the shoulder of the controller.... uhhh.
Yes, I'm kidding...

I believe the implication is that if you drink enough beer, all of the women actually look like that.

Don't forget the French addition. I think they call it "The Sims."

For $350 you can get a ReplayTV 4500 with lifetime service.
I can do that with my $35 Hauppage capture card and free Windows Media Encoder.
But I've never had a reason too...
