I disagree about the need for a physical keyboard/keypad. I find those tiny keys clunky and aesthetically unappealing--in fact they're the main reason why I refuse to invest in a PDA. The touchscreen makes for a bigger screen, and an economy and purity of design. And it offers more possibilities as a software feature than it would by being tied down to a specific hardware configuration.
I think we've reached a kind of milestone as far as miniaturization/integration are concerned. With a bit of luck Apple is concocting something similar to this for its updated version of the Ipod or Digital Lifestyle Device.
