They say this would require some changes in the encoder.

It would be great if somebody made a tool for converting my old oggs to the new "peel-able" format. (Assuming, of course, this is possible.) That way I didn't need to re-rip all my CDs again. I'd just have to run the converter over the night. (or, to be realistic, weekend.)

In the couple of years the bind 9 code has been out there, the only vulnerabilities it's had caused the server to shut itself down immediately, as it realised something was wrong with its input. That's likely to be it's only failure mode in the future - stick a wrapper around it that restarts it when it dies, and you'll be right as rain.
No, you'd create a potentially very effective DoS target. If named were to restart each time it received some malformed packets, a motivated script kiddie could easily max out your load.
  9. Re:AltaVista vs. Google: speed and relevance shoot on Altavista Renewed · · Score: 2, Informative

Google's rankings are based on how many people are linking to a certain site, and what words are used in the link. So if someone links to the Ellen Feiss site, referring to her as "Stoner girl", google will notice and display that site when someone searches for stoner girl. For fun: make 1000 pages linking to one of your friends' pages using the sentence "crack addicted donkey fucker". Then, some weeks later, send him an email telling him to search for the very same sentence.
