Different countries have different cultures of driving. If you have not grown up in the country, you are far more likely to get into an accident. Especially if you come from Niue (the only country with a worse death rate than the Dominican Republic).

Problem 1) Everyone THINKS they are a good/above average driver. Therefore 75% of the population doesn't want to let a car drive them. but 50% of the population is a BELOW average driver. That means that at best, 25% of the population that are below average drivers, wrongly think they are good drivers and said they would rather drive themselves. My question was designed to make people overcome their own arrogance and think about bad drivers.

While most people are not a 17 year old, nor are they a 71 year old, most people HAVE a 17 year old kid or a 71 year old relative. Those that don't have a 17 year old neighbor or a 71 year old neighbor. The question is whether they want these people, who drive on the same roads as they do, to drive themselves, or to use a driverless car.

There is a huge difference between refusing to let someone sell encryption, and allowing them to create and sell encryption, then demanding they break it.

The Louisville City Council passed a law to force residents to let AT&T put up poles on the residents land without paying the residents anything. If you own a house then there is a telephone pole sitting on your property, they don't pay you rent, they never 'bought' the land, and you can't stop them from entering your property to fix their poles. Even if you don't use ANYTHING on the pole. You could own the land but not have power, cable, or telephone, and AT&T still get's to put up the pole and enter your land.

There are a lot of ways you can screw with a study. For example, you get dramatically different answers by rephrasing the question.
If you ask: "Do you believe that mothers should be able to legally murder their babies within 2 months of the creation of life?" you get a very different answer than if you ask "Do you believe that women should have the legal right to abortion when the fetus can be demonstrated to show no brain activity more significant than that of a snail."
This might be intentional, or simple unconscious bias.
When Cheney/Bush/Rove where at the height of power, they realized several things.
1) They could move the GOP from a 'conservative' party to a "rural" party.
2) That would make gerrymandering much easier, giving them 20 seats in the House of Representatives.
3) This, new gerrymandered political situation would allow them to push away from the center and create more conservative, far right party, while still remaining in control of the House.
Their plan worked. But they failed to realize their would be pushback. In effect, the far right conservatives that won their districts easily failed to understand that they had cheated. They believed the entire country was far more republican than they were, and pushed for even more conservatism. This was called the T-Party movement. It pushed most of the moderates out of the Republican party.
The few remaining centrists in the Republican party have too little power to lead. Hence Huntsman lost the primary in 2012, and Kasich can't get traction in 2016.
No sane person can lead the crazy mob the GOP invited in. That is why their two leaders are Trump and Cruz
Right now, there are three wings of the Republican party. 1) The lunatic far right invited in (Cruz). 2) The original conservative party leaders that decided to use deception to bring the far right lunatics in. It's a well known fact (at least among sailors) that a good boat, you can use the sail like a wing and then use the 'lift' to push you forward faster than the wind is pushing you. Typically done with extremely light catamarans and hydrofoils, you can achieve speeds 3x the wind.
