It depends. Anime on networked television was always touchy. Especially when it comes to real network not the semi cable networks like CN. WB tried for ages to spawn Cardcaptors and failed. Hell they didn't even give Escaflowne a chance.
Cartoon network never had much loyalty to any of their shows. Anime like cowboy bebop and some of the various Gundam series just do not sell anything. DBZ remains Cn only claim to success. Which is sad. I hope none of this messes with the idea of finishing the Big O story. Another series that got little play on CN's part.
Encore Action channel right now is the only true consistant channel (pay channel at that) thatshows anime. For months now it has a sort of set timing of when to show anime. You got Animidnight Fridays and atleast 3 other weeksdays that show some type of anime at consistant times. Sure they tend to show some obscure titles like 3x3 Eyes (Which I believe is wonderful.), But atleast they are consistant. it's nice to see different things on the television even if they aren't the cream of the crop. hell they even went way out to get the rights to show Metropolis which is probably the most recent thing they have out of all the titles. To make matters better..... atleast they don't dumb down the content of the titles. CN unfortunately even with good shows almost always sides with parents and dumbs down even adult swim content.
Adult swim is a nice thing. Their other content is rather humorous. I still yern for more. Action channel was a good buy cept for the fact that I had to purchase a damn block of Starz/encore channels which I never watch.
Anime is widely pirated especially in the US thanks to horrific pricing. I don't think dvd/video sales have much to do with the lack of anime on cable/network television. I think most programming presidents feel anime is a big risk. Action channel took the risk and I think (and they say) it's going very well after all these months. Turner/WB/AOLTW never sided with quality over what they can squeeze out of a show. CN has a lot of good titles under their wing and most never get shown anymore. It is quite ashame.
Perfect Blue or Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise. I think both are a bit under rated to US Anime fans.... Especially Perfect Blue.
