but why are you denying the existence of the people who think all poverty is the result of being "lazy and stupid" ?
I'm not. But my thesis is that two reasonable people can become more educated and come to different worldviews. I maintain that this is true even when their intentions are identical because the starting conditions can be quite different. That there exist people with different motivations is not in question.
I think you took things to an extreme there because of your personal bias:)
Two educated people could very well drive by the shanty town and come to much different opinions on what should be done, both with the motivation of improving the lot of the folks living there. A billionaire driving by might set up a foundation and tap wealthy donors. A lower or middle class person might decide to pursue a career in public service. Both are reasonable courses of action, and likely to result in at least some differences in base ideology. Bill Gates probably has a wildly different worldview from Mother Teresa, but they are both helping the same people.
Presuming you are talking about Coors Light... I've never tried it for cooking, but it might be so far in the "water" side of the spectrum that it no longer imparts any flavor at all.:)
Strategy is part of politics, and I'd say that Obama's liberal base is acting strategically. Thus, I have to disagree and say that this is a political issue.
I generally like to try stuff from local breweries. I'm like a kid in a candy store in those beer distributors. I've had "bad" beer, where I've actually had to refuse it - mostly from dirty taps. But I've also had some homemade beer that I think would fit the universal definition of "bad". The big brewers simply don't make mistakes that lead to "bad" beer, but they definitely make beer that I subjectively don't really like. Miller Light is one of those, but so are the vast majority of these double and triple hopped things that burn a hole in my stomach.
Yeah, there is no rule... but the data seems to suggest that 2/3 of people will forever be loyal to "their" team. And unfortunately, those are also the people most motivated to actually attend the polls. The major parties have to have an epic fuck-up to lose their 1/3 share, so most of the battle is fought over the public image in an attempt to woo the remaining 1/3.
It's not that his liberal base doesn't care. It's that they can't really say anything or their anger will be used to help the Republicans. It's one of the side effects of a two-party system. A politician (especially one in power) has to SERIOUSLY screw up to hear it from their own party. This is what makes establishment Republicans so uneasy about the Tea Party.
Perhaps I used the wrong word. It's not "bad" beer, it's just not overly flavorful. I will drink it, and even enjoy it, if given no other options. I might even select it preferentially to some of the overly hoppy stuff that is popular these days.
Aren't we the stickler for government regulations! I don't really care if the alcohol exceeds some government mandate or if the "wrong" grain is used. It's all beer.
I'm afraid that I'm not enough of a stoner to know whether you are being sarcastic or not. But Miller Light is not "bad" as in low-quality, it just doesn't have a whole lot of flavor and so goes unused. SAB knows how to brew and their products are very high-quality and consistent.
My wife hates beer, but she loves those sweet malt beverages. I do brats on the grill that were first boiled in beer and I add beer to chile and stews and she never complains (or notices, for that matter).
There is an incredible variety of beer - it's just fermented grain flavored with anything you like. They can be bitter, sweet, or just about any other flavor - some companies even flavor them with massive amounts of sugar and flavorings like a soda... It is hard to believe that you don't like any of them.
Yes, this is the same company that upped the rental for my cable modem. The same cable modem that I've had since I started with them. First, it went from 3 to 7, and finally 8 dollars before I had enough and purchased my own. I can't believe the gall they have to raise the rent on a depreciating asset. I cancelled all but their legally mandated $10 tier for cable while I was at it. Brian Roberts can bite me.
I gave it up because I realized that the $100+ I was saving bought a LOT of beer at the local sports bar.
And then came the kids, which make watching sports almost impossible anyway, because it isn't purple and doesn't sing or dance. Well, maybe the Ravens. The $1000+ saved over the course of the year means I can justify going to an actual stadium from time to time without grousing too much about the overpriced beers.

I've been happy with ChangeIP for several years now, ever since Dyn started their pushy shenanigans.

Anybody whose worldview has NOT had some pretty rapid changes during the course of their life has not been learning anything.
Sorry, I misunderstood. I agree.
So I'll amend my statement a bit. You can will yourself to take a different worldview, but you don't have a choice in what direction you end up in :)

It is entirely possible for two intelligent, reasonable people to "learn" and come to different conclusions.
I'm not sure being [insert political ideology] is a choice. It's not like you can simply will yourself to take a different worldview.

Well, there's no winning that. If the boss doesn't like beer marinade, it's a non-starter :)

I agree, which is why it sits in my fridge so long. It's still a perfectly sound ingredient for something like a stew or (I imagine) a steak marinade.

Yeah, Newegg just had a sale for around $60 on a DOCSIS 3.0, so it was a no-brainer when the rent went up.

Don't use the good beer. Use the Miller Light that's been sitting in your fridge since someone brought it over months ago.
Blueberry-marinaded steak? Um, OK.
I agree - DDT is just awful unless sweetened with a little saccharin.
