    further more, and more basically, why should one API (X) cover input and output to entirely separate device classes? i have never seen any video adapters capable of handling sound, nor any audio interfaces capable of handling video.

    One of the goals of the MAS guys is accessibility. They want to grab system beeps and turn it into a screen event. Pretty neat. Not directly relevant to your point, but neat.

    Debian ships a patched kernel. They've added patches so that an initrd file can be used.

    Personally, I would consider a company providing documentation a support company.

    But his motivation for writing the essay is irrelevant in this case. Making some money? Nothing wrong with that.

    It'd be rediculous for him to write his LOTR essays when the popularity of the books and movies weren't a current popular topic. Same thing with his Star Wars essays. That someone can make some money by writing essays about pop-culture isn't a strike or even a relevant comment about his essay.

    The New Critics thought that the author's view on a piece was unimportant. The work stands by itself.

    Great. Any length to annoy a spammer. Even committing credit card fraud. I'm sure that so many attempts won't be noticed or prosecuted or anything.
