Hermann Rauschning, in (IIRC) "Hitler Speaks", suggests that Hitler saw the actual program of the communists (in Russia) as almost identical to those of the NSDAP.
Is this significantly different from me receiving a snailmail letter from you and then sending the text to the opinion section of the local paper. IF, and it's a big if, the editor decides to publish it many people will have the information.
Going farther back in time, the literate people were likely to publish pamphlets with often virulent statements.
The data for India does not seem credible in Lancashire's thesis.
If you substitute "commercial artists" and "artists" into his argument the weakness of his thesis becomes more apparent. i.e a commercial artist may have a day job in an advertising agency , but spends all his free time painting landscapes etc.
Agreed
I have been trying, off and on,for over a year to find a version of linux that will install.I have books on Linux but they all make the legitimate point that in order to learn how to use LINUX one has to have a computer running it.
Now I have found Knoppix and I feel _really_ happy. Not that it is perfect; I am having problems getting the hd install to function.
But I can start to learn now!
Coming from England I have always been fascinated by the American's pride in their Constitution. This decision by the "conservative 7" seems to be based, according to Steven's opinion, on the precedents set by previous decisions of the American government. Being human it is inevitable that some of their decisions were, are, and will be unconstitutional. (this system of making laws and then letting the public go to the expense of showing that some may be unconstitutional seems grossly unfair to the individual, but this is another matter).
Given that this decision puts the onus on "precedent", then can it be said that the USA has a constitution in anything but name. The "conservative 7" should, IMO, be called "the radical 7".
WTH has been wrong with slashdot's operation for the past few months. It takes forever to get to a comment(e.g this one) and forever to return to the main discussion,
"News for Nerds" by an antique delivery service approaching the performance of snail mail
If the second of these sentences means the same as the first I need to relearn either English or logic.
First, the cost to manufacture simple chips was nearly independent of the number of components on the chip. In other words, the cost per component was nearly inversely proportional to the number of components.
So how much weight can you give to the rest of his analysis?
Having tried to (dual) install some version of linux for the past 6 months I completely agree. Except that in one of your previous posts you ay "show them that they can dual install..."This is exactly what _none_ of the commercial distros are capable of doing. Not, that is, without a _lot_ of CLI work. And often not even then.
Has it occurred to anyone else that Klaus Knopper is a genius? He has single handedly done what no collection of programmers have been able to do- get a working linux on almost any computer.
This feat is both amazing and depressing.
Having read thru this page, I found that no-one mentioned Ray Kurzweil, and especially his book "The Age of Spiritual Machines".
A different perspective.
Your argument presumes that no radical group will be able to seize an ICBM installation; that the Russian, Chinese, etc security is rock solid.
Your evidence for this is?
Many thanks for the link to the 1965 report.
Fascinating.
Wonder how similar the 2003 report will be!
