Why fly to a distant country to buy bootleg stuff? There is plenty of it in the USA. Also, my personal experience in the middle east says that bootlegging is extremely popular. Especially for console games.
You can look up the phone numbers for all the NationalGuard and Reserve armories in your state via google. Give one a call and let them know you want to start sending care packages to deployed units. They'll know who is gone or leaving soon and how to get in touch. Usually the FRG/FSG (family support group) poc will be the best person to talk to. That way you can lump yours with theirs and prevent a duplication of effort.
I don't think it's that simple. I've convinced myself that they are rolling a distro of sorts (or at least a set of libs) to be a "console". This would let game developers big and small make games for the steam console without having to pay dev fees or jump through hoops. Any hardware manufacturer that can produce a device (really just a computer in a small form-factor) that meets the target apis will be qualified as a "Steam Console".
All the normal consoles are incompatible with each other and PCs in general. This would certainly change things.
I would say that's up there with it costs 5 cents to make a 1 cent coin. EXCEPT you have to remember the coin is used like a thousand times. In BCs case, it would be much longer.
I'm pretty sure that is not a problem with bitcoin. Each coin is divisible into subcoins. So it is possible to pay someone with 1/1000000th of a bitcoin.
What if valve makes a "console" which is really just a set a target APIs and required file structure on linux. This would allow any company to manufacture a "Steam Console". It would run linux, have the proper libraries to run games, and have access to all Valve titles and other linux games on steam.
I think that would solve all your questions except for the marketing thing you brought up. I can only answer it with: Gamers want to play good games. There are plenty of Free-2-Play games too.
.. you're talking about the people who don't give a damn about the people they're having sex with.

They look like women. The female form is very nice, Muslim or otherwise. In some cultures body hair is ok and others it isn't. Cultural Relativism.
These are pretty cool: http://www.gumstix.com/
Super tiny!
Yeah, i agree. This is a 100$ motherboard... a tiny motherboard yes, but still completely useless without ram, cpu, and blah.
I can agree with that. But what about spending 30k of your own money to provide entertainment to your Nation's deployed soldiers?

Except they decide what the value of their products are?
"We sent them the $100 Director's Cut Ultimate Pro version."

It's not a new console though, it's a computer in a console shape.

I'll vomit some imagination on you..

You should change the setting to prompt on update then?
We agree! Joyous occasion on the internet :)
haha, i love PHP's list:
1. I am sometimes embarrassed to admit to my peers that I know this language
Looks like some angry people categorized it. "Most similar to: Visual Basic" ? C++ is more similar. All the control structures are identical.
i still prefer printf to cout. Who wouldn't?
https://xkcd.com/605/ :)
Not sure how you shoved Perl into "get shit done" and PHP into "shit". Both are equally awesome and terrible. Depends on the programmer.
You didn't even read the summary and are fired from this discussion.
Yeah, this guy who makes museum displays for children is an evil douchebag!
Not sure how you were modded like that? It's a decent point and certainly not a troll.
My socks are made in Pakistan. Super soft too. If they made more textiles, i'd buy them!
I remember seeing some hilarious stuff, live on cnn, from the Ministry of Information. Threatening to use bio weapons on all the invaders and so on.
Even if you are right, it would scale. Everyone would be a jerk but some would be a lot more than others.
