  1. Encrytion Not Secure on Encrypt Phone Calls For Under $100 · · Score: 1

The boys in blue (or black) wouldn't have any problem here, I'm sure they would get there own; or in the case of someone under active investigation; just let the task force break in to see how its set up. The other coward was right, set up a phone, using high order digital encryption; so both data and voice could go thru. What man can encode;NSA can decode.

Check out the other reply, I mean; can't people express themeselves without juvenile vulgarity? The again he's probably a pubescent 21 year old who thinks every f*ur letter word is a great way to make a point.

My reply...easy; I like being safe; and while it's shame that happened to you, ask yourself if she was your sister or wife; if that wouldn't make you feel better.

I have friends in Law Enforcement, and the trick is.. they are all fine people, who think of the greater good. Not Hitler types who want to infringe rights at every turn.

But you're right, there is too much paranoia, as the reply's to this /. post will show.

  3. Government Taps..Paranoia Runs Deep.. on FBI Stops Satellite Phones · · Score: 1

Once more, I hear paranoia at /. The Gvmnt right to a digital feed of phone info is emminent domain. Believe it or not, they don't have time to track ordinary law abiding citizens, just the criminals. Would you have a terrorist/drug trafficker in the US able to coordinate activities without any way for law enforcement to track his communications?

Think about it, you're opening Pandora's box; and folks like don't care who gets hurt. True you take the risk that the law may be abused at some time, but then if you don't have such a law.. you can be certain that the loophole will be exploited by terrorists or criminals.

Too many posts at /. have paranoid reply's, unfortunately our Founding Fathers had no idea of nukes, germ warfare, car bombs, etc. I have no doubt if they had, they would have supported the ability to infringe on those folks rights (who would commit such crimes) for the greater good of the nation.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. If you have nothing to hide, you really have nothing to fear. But I personally support the right for the Law to fight back. You fight the Law...the Law will win.

  4. Ender was OK The Rest Boring on Ender's Shadow · · Score: 1

As a SF fan, I found Ender's game excellent, but the rest of the series boring. The other novels published (that I spent money on) were forgetable. That's why I quit wasting my time with his novels, maybe Card will move back to something I like.

  5. SW:TPM Piracy is Illegal on LucasFilms suing 'net Pirates · · Score: 1

If you don't like the law change it, but until you do obey it. Lucas invested to bring us this movie, no payback no new movies, (gee that math is not too hard.) Besides that, a lawyers retainer is a whole lot more than the price of the movie (in Georgia ~ $5.50), and considerably less than the price of the tape once released.

Never mind that it wasn't as good as the hype.Unfortunately they won't give us back our money for that either.

  6. Tommy can youn hear me! on Townshend to Complete "Lifehouse" · · Score: 1

The Who were great, the BEATLES the best. If you weren't raised in the 60's, then you might be fooled. They started it all; it wasn't the money they made that drove it Gen X, it was cultural change.Pete Townshend is unfortunately no person you'd want your kids to grow up like, but then you'll find out about that in the next 15 years

  7. No more JFK Jr or I'll puke on Feature: Technology, Media and Grief · · Score: 1

the title says it all....Barf!!!! How much money diid we spend finding him anyway, and would ordinary citizens get the same treatment. NOOO!!
Get on with life, this guy killed himself, when he could have paid to have a instructor with him. He fought the earth, the earth won.

Doomed to repeat history ?, only if we let individuals have the ability to plan, and carry out terrorism..or worse. You seem to forget the sacrifice of the dead martyrs, that have given you this wonderful personal freedom. The price of freedom, is paid in blood.

  9. Tapped Communications? on Britain Tapped Communications · · Score: 1

Why be paranoid about something that's a fact of life. The Brits do it, we do it, and undoubtably others as well. Fact is, when you fight the law, the law wins..everytime. I personally support this, as an ends to the means of combatting crime and terrorism. If you've got nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. Its not like they're capturing your dirty little deeds to make them public; just the dirty deeds of a select criminal element.
