So Obama will just have to flip-flop after he flip-flops on the flip-flop!
Every economist in the fucking universe (with the possible exception of Greenspan) will tell you that governments should spend during a recession and pay down the debt when not in recession. My enormously unpopular opinion is that the bailouts, enacted by governments of all politcal colours around the world averted a 1930's style depression.
Oblig. car analogy: Bitching about the bailouts is like bitching about the $500 insurance excess on a $30K claim.

The country was created and given to them by a UN resolution
This is a common myth, particularly in the US. What actually happened was that contrary to the plans of the UN/UK/US to split Palestine in two, the Jewish Agency (zionists) unilaterally declared indepenence in 1948 and called themselves Israel, which in turn triggered the "war of conquest" with the Arabs. The UN did not recognise Isreal as a legitimate state until 1949, there was no other realistic choice since Israel had already established themselves as a state by winning a war against several Arab states.
btw; Before the zionists declared independence the area did not belong to the Arabs, it was technically a part of the British empire who conqured it during WW1..
Oh and BTW: There is no explicit right to free speech in the Australian constitution (political or otherwise), however the high court in the erly 90's did rule that it is an implied right.
Just one minor flaw with your plan. - The list is supplied by interpol, there are no government officials maintaining the list. The best way to fight this is with your wallet by simply moving to an unfiltered ISP such as iinet.
Any kind of industry agreement in the US, which couldn't be "assisted" by the government like it is here in Australia, would last until one ISP figured they could make more money selling unfiltered access.
You do realise there are still plenty of unfiltered providers here in Oz, right?
Rather than using thoughtcrime style legislation and expanding government powers like current legislation is doing
This filter is not a legal requirement, parliment has repeatedly refused to legislate the various mandotory filters that have been proposed by both right and left wing governments since the mid-nineties. If the government were really interested in expanding their powers in this area we would have had mandatory filters over a decade ago.
I worked on an Aussie sawmill in the early 80's. We had water and electricity but the kitchen stove, hot water, and heating were all wood fired. There was a public payphone at the mill which you could use to ask the mailman to bring you stuff like bread and milk ( the alternative was a one hour round trip ). There was no TV or radio, the library was a three hour round trip, the cinema was a 5hr round trip. I loved the lifestyle, the (now ex) wife hated it.
When you add more energy to a large system, you don't just get even warming. Things get mixed. It's like heating up an ice-cream cake. Some parts that were warm will get colder than they were, as other parts melt into them.
Yep, increased heat means more turbulence, turbulance in the climate is weather.
It's why the term has changed to climate change instead of just global warming.
No, scientists are well aware the two terms have a different meaning, GW is CC in the positive temp direction. It's why the IPCC has had a CC on the end for over 20yrs. CC is actully the older of the two terms (at least back to the 50's), GW was first coined in a scientific paper in the 70's.
As far as changing the terminology for political purposes goes, the only concrete evidence I have of that is when Frank Luntz while working for the Bush administration tried to get people to use the term "Climate Change" exclusively. When it didn't work their plan B was to blame the "terminology change" on "tree-hugging scientists", from what I can tell plan B has worked quite well for them in the US.
In an ideal world I'd say the government would give you the tools to block it if you wanted (government sponsored software) and not force it on anyone.
That's exactly how Australia's government mandated opt-in filtering works. What TFA describes is an end run around what parliment refused to mandate.
"people that believe wind and solar can produce energy anywhere near nuclear are living in an alternate universe. The sheer amount of landspace needed for solar panels and windmills to equal the output of nuclear is staggering."
Remember when the term "hippie" used to refer to hard-working idealists? OK -- sliiiight over-exaggeration perhaps. But at least those people existed. Really. So I'm told:-)
"Hippie" literally means "one who is aware" and building a Hippie commune is hard work compared to a main stream job, which is the main reason why most of them fail.
We know there were times in the distant past where CO2 was 4X as high as now, global temp was 12degC higher, and yet life still flourished, however the point is that a sharp jump, (geologically speaking), to a Jurassic climate will make mince meat of our modern infrastructure and agriculture causing humanity to be dramatically downsized (and other life-forms to flourish).
Sadly philosophy was largely absent from my education, I have been (very slowly) rectifying my ignorance for the past decade and have found the Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy to be a very useful resource.

Here's the 2003 memo, the new spin is that the tree-huggers tried to change the terminology.
You've made a valid point that contradicts what I believe
Out of curiosity, what vaild point do you see in the aforementioned "anti-intellectual bullshit"?
so now they have to change the theory too
No, rather you just learnt something about climte science, "they" have known about the effects of sulphur for more than half a century.

It also seems to be a rule of thumb that once the overrun has been spent completing the hard bit the project is cancelled. In telescopes the mirrors are the hard bit.

Indeed, "Unregulated free markets" is an oxymoron since a "market" in the economic sense is just a set of rules governing transactions.
I understand what it claims and you have a reasonable criticism, it's now your turn to do some googling and show us some better numbers.
Architects are in charge of aesthetics. Engineers are in charge of functionality.
The greatest structures are the ones where the architects and engineers were the same people/person.
You're wrong about the copyright but that's irrelevant, they banned him for breaking competition rules, not copyright law.
"people that believe wind and solar can produce energy anywhere near nuclear are living in an alternate universe. The sheer amount of landspace needed for solar panels and windmills to equal the output of nuclear is staggering."
Rubbish, renewables already generate more electricity than nuclear and their installed capacity is growing much faster than nuclear.

Yes, humans can get speeding tickets, which is what I suspect some postmen are hoping for eventually. They see us all as an infection on their roads.
Your average ecosystem is like a ten-thousand part pendulum.
I've got nothing to say, I just like that quote. :)

Bullshitting is more of an art than a science. /jk
