None of them are perfect. This exploit looks like it is related to their disk sharing application, which I have disabled. If you open up outside access, it is just another route for attack. At least when you have open firmware, people having a chance to fix it on their own instead of relying on a company to do it for them.
Not saying they are perfect, but at least I can still get custom firmware. They all have their quirks, that's why being able to getting a great open source community that can find and fix the issue fast is important.
This specifically looks like an issue with Aidisk, which is their file sharing application. Opening up outside access to you network is trouble to begin with.
Don't be naive, other manufacturers are starting to lockdown too...
Still open for now, and I already have custom firmware on it. If all the major companies do start locking down firmware, then I think it is a great opportunity for some startups touting that they still have open firmware to make their way into the market.
Glad I already returned my TP-Link and bought an Asus. I had the C9 Archer and it was terribly unstable. I guess TP-Link will be falling into obscurity again.
No, That is why they WANT to advertise the drugs, there is no NEED to advertise them. Patients should not be making decisions on which drugs they use. It only complicates the doctors abilities to properly treat a condition when a patient insist on using a drug that may not be the best for them because they saw it on TV.
You are confusing the two articles, the £143 million price is for the BAE plane, which can not stay aloft for 4 days, it is a strike platform. The Boeing plane is supposed to be able to stay up for 4 days, but they do not mention cost.
My question is, will the Dan Brown books actually stand the test of time. Are our kids going to be reading the Da Vinci Code in high school instead Catcher in the Rye. I don't really see that.
I think there are many classics that are classics simply because there there were limited availability of source material and reviews. There are so many more books, movies, etc., and opinions about that material today, is there ever going to be a consensus of a modern classic. It has previously been much easier to suppress dissenting opinions of material. Now that everyone has a voice that can be heard, will have modern classic?
Just another fee sellers can tack on to the already inflated shipping in handling. Sure you can buy this for $5 + $15 S&H + $5 Transaction Fee. Guess it works for TicketM*ster, why not PayPal
I don't understand why people are making such a big deal about XP Mode. It is meant for enterprise systems that have millions invested in software that is difficult to convert. 99.9% of people are not going to be using XP mode.
I agree, its cool to be green, so everyone is making up ways to be green, just like foods advertising being trans-fat free even though they never had trans-fat to begin with.
I live in one of those rural areas where AT&T sold off to CenturyTel, now DSL are double what they are from AT&T, and of course there is no way we are getting FiOS.
I suppose I was confused on this point myself. I interpeted the "sharing with friends" no different that making a copy for them. I read that it explicitly states that you can let them borrow a cd or movie, but not make a copy for them.
I thought it was ok to copy CD's and VHS, didn't they decided that was legal in the 80's? As far as I know that hasn't been overturned. The only thing that makes copying DVD's illegal is the encryption. Regular CD's are still fair game, right?

Guess you missed that I am running custom firmware.

Been saying this for years. The worst new offender is the drug for a very specific type of cancer. Why does that need to be advertised?
It just made me smile.

It's quite obvious that it was altered, and it doesn't look like were trying to hide something. What's the big deal.
