  1. Same effect as wealth.... on Too Many Computers Hurt Learning · · Score: 1
Computers have the same effect as wealth on children. As I understand it, the end economic product of wealthy children is polarized, more so than middle class or poor children. They are more likely to either do very well or do very poorly and live off their parents.

The effect is the same with computers. It leads students to either waste away their lives and brains in front of them, or, if a good student, they can use the computer as an additional tool to help them excel.

I spent hours every day in front of the computer in high school, and I had perfect grades (4.000) and excellent ACT and SAT scores. If anything, they helped me through my education rather than hindered me in any way.

It would be a good idea periodically create a cd or dvd based app that includes all of the articles, like the old encarta encyclopedias. That would be an excellent way to backup any and all information, and if it could be downloadable, it would be well stored with the thousands who download it.

  3. games, ease of use, & compatability. on What's Keeping You On Windows? · · Score: 1

The games are great on windows. Hardware is easy to setup, and so is much of the other software. Lots of other very easy to use and productive is on software, and not on linux. With windows it is get up and go. Linux is right on window's tail, and I think that when wine obtains complete compatability, then the amount of people using windows will quickly diminish. People will have less of a reliance on windows when their software will run flawlessly on Linux.

  4. Fujitsu drives aren't worth the time. on Have Fujitsu Harddrives Been Failing in Record Numbers? · · Score: 1

I recently obtained a new computer, which contained a Fujitsu drive. That drive failed, followed by the next three replacements. All of the drives failed with about a month. I just quit dealing with them, seeing as they are unable to make a drive that functions for a reasonable amount of time. Anyway, if you are in the market for a new drive, I don't think it would be wise to get a drive made by Fujitsu.
