They should all be rounded up and deported aboard container ships to the Middle East.
Has it never occurred to you that most immigrants from the Middle East are in your (and my) fine country precisely because they don't like murderous regimes, suicide bombs, and countries which don't respect human rights? Or is that too obvious?
Every Muslin has blood on their hands.
Oh, wait, I see what you're saying. Yeah, lightweight cotton is evil. Death's too good for it, I say.
I know this is a discussion about the plug, but with so many devices connecting to a router wirelessly, there's been no need to redesign it at all. Would be nice to see it merged with a USB-Type C style of connectivity, but the simple answer it that it's probably just not needed.
And if you need that, USB3 gigabit network cards aren't exactly expensive.
It's not like the OS-X tools are oh so much better than anyone else's.
People find it weird that I write in vim and run under XCode. I would rather debug C++ with XCode than with literally anything that's currently available on Linux.
(Yes, I do date back to the era of dbx and gdb. I still can if I must.)
I can build a machine for a lot less than Apple would charge me, [...]
I can pretty much guarantee that any machine you build won't have as high a power-to-weight ratio as a MacBook. When someone else is paying for it, and you travel/commute a lot, it's often worth it.
Unless you need something that a Mac won't give you, of course, like a decent GPU...
And if there's one thing that Microsoft is known for, it's their awesome parties. "How do you do, fellow party-goers?" All good clean fun until someone throws a chair.
But, hey, maybe we should cut Microsoft a break this time. I'm sure this is a one-time thing; after all, they've never dragged themselves down to the level of the lowest common denominator before.
That was my thinking too. The combination of machines making food and people not being needed to do mind-numbing tedious tasks brings us one step closer to the Star Trek utopia.
There's enough vegetarians in the world to prove it.
FTFY. Healthy vegan diets need to be planned very carefully, and only relatively affluent people can typically manage it. Vegetarianism is much more realistic for most of the world.
However, It was a different era and there was one hell of a war going on at the time.
You think it was so different? The leading Republican candidate today is running on a policy which includes "registering" Muslims. Admittedly, he may not be serious. Perhaps, the proposal would never be implemented. Still, he didn't lose popularity over that particular proposal...
In the end, our leaders are politicians - they do the things that their constituency will put up with.
Bringing this back to Apple vs FBI for a moment, this is one key reason why Apple wants Congress to decide what the rules are, rather than courts. Apple owns enough Congresscritters that they have a fair shot at getting the right answer.
Look at how many people followed Hillary!'s orders to set up an illegal email server in her shitter that they all knew was used to handle classified data.
I haven't been following this story closely, not living in your fine country, but I'm curious: How many was it?
Obviously the lower bound is one; it only takes one person to set up an email server. Obviously there is no upper bound, since there must be government bureaucracy involved.
I know you're just trying to be funny, but when the shit hits the fan the military and law enforcement will be on our side, not the government's.
Yeah, just like how all those military and law enforcement personnel stood up to the tyrannical government when it unsuccessfully tried to send US citizens off to internment camps in 1942.
They should all be rounded up and deported aboard container ships to the Middle East.

The time for profiling has come.
This is Slashdot. With the possible exception of you, we understand the base rate fallacy.
Besides, Schneier says it's bad, and I'm too scared to argue with him.
Damn, I missed that Digital icon! Good to see you back, DEC!
[...] things that would not be normally allowed under US Law.
I think the symbolic point is to stop doing that.
Sure! It's secure-free-software-here.totally-not-the-nsa.gov.sorry-i-mean.org

All right, no more, no more...
If you can build (and I emphasise "build") a machine which is as light and as powerful as a MacBook Air, please submit it to hackaday.
Thank you, but I'm disappointed that nobody came up with the obvious comeback.
Hahahaha!
Oh, wait, you were serious?

Where does one draw the line?
With Aerosmith? Easy: You draw the line at 1995.
Even that low patch between '79 and '82 is probably okay given that it's Cisco we're talking about.
It was an eff'in party.

Should I be OUTRAGED when gay-themed films don't cater to me? Should I demand equal hetero time?
You wouldn't be the first to do so, of course.
If the product itself appeals to you, ignore the flashy advertising if it doesn't suit you.
It'd be great if game developers could ignore the console duopoly, but it's not exactly a realistic option.
GDC promoting marxism [...]
Oh, please. Did you even read the slide? That's like saying GDC is promoting zombie hordes.
