For just one example look at how the RNC had a voice vote to change the rules to keep the Paul people from speaking, the teleprompter had the resul;ts of the vote before the vote was had thus showing it was just a sham, just like our elections.
Actually...what it sounds like you're describing...is the voice vote that (debateably) passed...by the Democrats while in convention..to alter the platform to include the word God and/or support for Israel in it....shown on TV with less than what sounded like a majority saying Yea....and yes, on that one, they showed the result was already on the teleprompter too....
I don't recall such a thing happening at the republican convention..but I'll go look, that would sure be a strange coincidence.
Serious question: if you are registered as Independent you have the opportunity to vote in either (or both) primary elections, correct?
Depends on what state you live in...in some, yes you can. In others, no you cannot.....I think even in some states, there might not be such a thing as registering independent, I *think* you have to register either as D or R.....but that might have changed in past years, but these rules vary state by state.
Remember, at least in theory, in the US, the main power and decision making is to reside in the states, not the Federal govt.
There won't be any prosperous people in 2075. We've hit peak oil and peak gas already, and we're only at 7 billion. In another 35 years, we'll have passed peak coal as well doubled our population, so the energy available per person will be a fraction of what it is now. In other words, *this* is about as rich as we're going to get, barring some incredible breakthroughs in energy production or population control.
Oh well....I'll long be dead by then...so, what do I care?
:)
Getting my kicks in now while there is still plenty, and I'm alive to enjoy it.
Hey African-American is better that a lot of the other names the blacks of America were called.
You know..if we're all supposed to be color blind these days...how about we do completely away with the hypenated race thing..and just all go by American (if your a citizen that is)....
Granted, High School was many years ago for me...but we'd just hang in the parking lot with our cars, playing music loud, throwing frisbee (some people doing other more *questionable* things)....and lunch was the same as a class period, 50 minutes I think? We had two lunches....half the school on one..half on the other...but we could come and go as we pleased.
This was in the south of the US.
During assemblies...you could often see a procession of cars leaving....usually we ran to get beer and hang out down by the parks along the river...throwing frisbees, etc....
I think the rule was.....2x tardies counted as an absence. If you got like 5 unexcused absences...you got kicked out of that class...if you got kicked out of 3x classes...you were kicked out of school that semester (this was all counts per semester).
LOL....I was cool in all classes except the class just before and just after lunch...almost too many absences, mostly due to tardies....
I guess we could be trusted more then? I mean...most everyone I knew and ran with, graduated just fine, with good grades and made it to starting college after senior year....
That's why it *is* important for parents of today...to be against this type of tracking....if kids today think this is normal...well, it then becomes the norm.
...and last I checked, poverty is pretty strongly associated with a shortage of money.
And poor people can't see that they don't have enough money to buy some things....?
That was more of my point. If you can't afford a nice car or nice TV...then don't fscking buy them...eh?
I can't believe just because someone is poor...that they can't grasp that concept?
Hell, when I left the house and was a broke college student and awhile after that...I couldn't afford everything I wanted...hence, I didn't BUY them...till I could make enough money (or save it back then) to buy things.
Nope. Now you've lost it. This site may be owned by an American company, but I don't recall ever seeing it stated (by the owners) that it was only intended for the US market and the rest of the world wasn't welcome.
You know...I was trying to find it and I can't right now...BUT, in the Slashdot FAQ, it did used to explicitly say that/. was a US centric site, and that the stories/ posts have a US centric slant.
Not at the exclusion of the rest of the world, mind you...but just that things on here do in the majority represent the US viewpoint.
Can anyone else find that in the Slashdot FAQ....I can't find the link anymore...
The highest posted speed limit on my normal commute to work (in the US) is 40 MPH.
Going the posted speed limit in most places I've lived (and currently live) will get you run over....no one drives the posted speed...that is usually taken as the 'minimum' safe speed in most parts I've driven in.
Hell, I usually do well over 40mph on neighborhood streets....
Your unsupportable political opinion aside, there are still more than enough used cars out there. The problem is not a lack of used cars, the problem is a consumption-driven culture that goes out of its way to teach people who most need to be responsible with their money to be irresponsible with their money.
So....poor people are overly easily influenced, and can't think for themselves....
Poor poor people.....
:(
And actually, after the cash for clunkers fiasco....there was a dip in used cars...and what remained...became more expensive. It did create an artificial *gap*.....not to mention that it seems fundamentally wrong in the US...for some tax payers to subsidize other citizens' car purchases...
This means people spend a whole years of their salary on a car just to get to work! It is even worse in the south where people buy $46,000 trucks and SUVs yet make only $13 an hour and wonder why they live paycheck to paycheck??
You seem to think that people in the south are the ones buying the majority of SUVs and Trucks for some reason? Are you insinuating that the southerners are stupider with their money than Northerners for some reason?
Funny...from what I've observed, living beyond your means....runs rampant throughout the whole USA...
And in my travels, I've seen no shortage of SUVs and pickup trucks anywhere in the US....so, not sure why you're trying to single out the southern part of the US.
There are many walmart workers where this would be perfect and are not fortunate like the poor in Europe or other first world countries.
Err.....how are the poor in Europe more fortunate that here in the US? And please..something other than the socialized health care. I mean..we are talking cars here.
If they were smart they'd redesign it to only have 3 wheels (2 in the front, 1 in the back). In the US it would qualify as a motorcycle and not need to pass any of the NHTSA crash saftey tests.
Motorcycle...hell, this thing doesn't sound like it has the power of a 2 door Vespa scooter?!!?
What highway are you going to allow this thing on? Top speed is what...40mph or so? 0-60mph in 1.5 minutes?
I know gas mileage is important to some people out there on a budget.....but man, you'll get run over on most roadways here if you try putting around in a 37HP car? Sounds more like a go-cart than a car....

Hey...why don't we take race completely out of the description....and just all be Americans?
Besides...Afroamerican...would be anyone with an afro style hairdo....that isn't just limited to blacks you know...
You know..if we're all supposed to be color blind these days...how about we do completely away with the hypenated race thing..and just all go by American (if your a citizen that is)....
Get a real job....

Do high schools not still have "open campus", where you can pretty much come and go as you wish for like lunch, if you have a car?
Who's his co-workers?
Jack Mehoff?
Chuck Roast?
Phil Magroin?
Seymour Butz?
That's why it *is* important for parents of today...to be against this type of tracking....if kids today think this is normal...well, it then becomes the norm.
They put hallway cameras in schools now?!?!?
When did this happen...?
Not so much pro sports...but college stuff, much more exciting.
And poor people can't see that they don't have enough money to buy some things....?

(What Would The Prophet Do)
...They're selling cars at the Quickie Mart now!!?!?
So....poor people are overly easily influenced, and can't think for themselves....

Ok...this is a bragging rights type thing somehow??
Yeah..sure takes the fun out of free speech...
I believe that would be Room 101 .
So..from this quote, I take it to mean that we're no longer tolerating these whack job muslims? I mean...talk about intolerant haters...
