There is a lot of debate over weather or not its such a great thing to just give food away to poor countries. It lowers the price of domestic farmed goods, depressing the local economy. Its often argued that its a better idea to support the local farmers as much as possible and only giving away food in famine situations.

The price of the raw materials is really just a fraction of the cost that goes into producing most foods.
When corn prices dramatically shot up, there wasn't a corresponding spike in food either.

Which really kills me as someone who generally doesn't like the current administration's policies. Its a case of a bunch of idiots sitting around saying " I don't like this policy, therefore it must be causing people harm because I don't like it!" Then they find something that kinda sort of seems like harm on some kind of level, and declare it to be true without doing any kind or real analysis. It makes anyone who disagrees with the policy look like jackasses. Thanks man.

Huh, that's not a bad idea at all, just bribe your way into controlling bitcoin mining. A long con, but quite possible for a movie plot. You set up a bunch of seemingly unrelated mining pools that pays out more than the value of the mined bitcoins. Then when you get to the appropriate threshold of control, combine forces and take judicious control over the block chain. No, wait actually that sounds like a terrible movie plot that would take forever to explain to the audience. Luckily there are terrible movies made all the time, and are in fact the majority of movies made today. So there is a chance... Screw bitcoins, I'm writing a script!

Seriously, building a glass strong enough to withstand bird strikes is not a n issue and hasn't been.

The issue is that the glass has to be weak enough to allow the pilot to break through when he's ejecting. So strong enough for a bird at 800 mph, but weak enough for a human ejecting at maybe 10 mph.
