    Spotted the self-identified gamer.

Anyone who hitches their identity so heavily on a single activity is worthless.

What lies? Anyone who self-identifies as a "gamer" is scum and should be incinerated posthaste.

When the car is deemed ready and put into production ans so on, yes absolutely.

But this was a *test driving* situation, during which unexpected and possibly dangerous situations may occur. It is irresponsible of Uber to not have two people in the car at all times, one to monitor the road and take evasive action if necessary, and one to monitor the systems. One person cannot do both at the same time.

You're a bit late to the party, Reddit swung the banhammer on those a long time ago.

ANTIFA, anyone? How offensive is that? ...wearing masks and attacking people because they can't stand to hear what they don't like. That my friend is fringe.

Antifa numbers a few thousand people worldwide. It is a *very* small fringe.

Also false equivalency, how many people have antifa killed? How many people have they taken freedom from?

Alas, given that some people consider the Second Amendment to be "crazy and offensive", it's pretty much impossible to avoid the label.

    Major strawman alert.

It is only an extremely small fringe who consider the second amendment to be "crazy and offensive". The rest may think it is a bit outdated or may question the interpretation, but that is absolutely not the same.

  7. 4chan is also home to some of the most vile scum of humanity, people with no life who basically spam everyone else into oblivion, thus setting the agenda.

    A moderation system *is* necessary.

  8. Back in the 50s, you also had drinking, marijuana and *gasp* pre-marital sex. Rock 'n' roll was corrupting the youth!

Maybe that would give it back some of the edge it lost over the decades. Rock 'n' roll used to be the devil's music, corrupting our youth and leading them drinking, smoking the Mary J and having pre-marital sex.

Now it's just the same crap as everything else, being played on corporate radio, completely toothless and lacking any sort of passion and righteous anger.

I'm not a huge fan of black metal (more into death/doom/power), but I think those freaks have a point. Make music dangerous again.

The only thing anyone learned from gamergate is that a lot of gamers are really really shitty people.

  12. Sure, and I am still a little bit surprised that LIDAR didn't at least see her, if not the bicycle.

  13. Adaptive cruise control systems have enough trouble spotting motorcycles, let alone bicycles. There isn't really much material to reflect off of.

Anyone with a dashcam will tell you that this just generally happens with most of them in low-light conditions. The headlight cone seems smaller on video than in real life, and dark areas become full black (or very nearly so). Night video from my (decent quality) webcam looks very similar to that video.

The cameras used in dashcams simply aren't as good at low-light situations as human eyes. There are thousands of hours of night-time dashcam footage on Youtube, if you want to compare.

  15. I'm personally for strict gun laws and limits on private ownership (ie. only for hunting or sporting purposes, with serious background checks and so on), but this is extremely heavy-handed.

Are informational gun videos illegal? Fuck no. Even if private gun ownership wasn't legal, informational videos about guns would still be legal and informative.

  16. That was the prevailing viewpoint at the time, yes. We have learned a lot about Facebook's behavior since then, and have become a lot more critical.

Future presidential candidates will not be allowed to do the same things with FB data, no matter which party they're from.

  17. Even with legitimate sources, it's extremely easy to twist the truth to fit an agenda, by either picking and choosing what to cite in your article, or even by deliberately misquoting the sources (because very few people care to check)

Zerohedge.com has done this a lot in the past, so it is only natural to distrust them.

  18. Says who?

  19. And conversely, people can point at the UBI and say "fuck you and your low-paying job, pay me a decent wage if you want me to work for you".

  20. And it was a damn good idea. Tax heavily if people just want to sit on their money, but offer them generous deductions if they put their money to work for society.

  21. 94% on income above a certain level only. And there were generous deductions available if you did the right thing and made your money work for society, rather than sit on it.

  22. Ridiculous strawmen! Get yer ridiculous strawmen right here! Special sale on ridiculous strawmen, get 2 pay for 3! Only today, ridiculous strawmen!

  23. Why do you think people need to be afraid?

  24. And then we'll cut them off from the rest of the world. They can live in their smug fat-wallet utopia, while the rest of the world gets on with actually doing shit that matters.

  25. "OH NO! My comfortable life! The people I've helped to collectively screw over for decades are coming to get me! Woe is me and my material possessions!"
