Why not do it the California way, we elect a Govenor (by a Majority vote), then spend millions of dollars to replace him with McBain. Now THAT's why I love this country. Perhaps Utah could put in Donny Osmond.
Travel a lot? Say you're in a hotel, and the internet connection sucks / costs too much. Drag your laptop over by a window and log on. Wardrivig just makes it easier to find an open network when you need it. I've pulled over to the side of Ventura Bl to check if a book is in stock. Saves me having to park in the mall, or wait on hold while somebody cheks stuff. Pretty handy, and quick, too. I like knowing that I have internet access away from home, not on a 2.5" screen, but on a 15" G4.
I guess there is some ethical debate about it, but i'm just using bandwidth for a few minutes.
Besides, Laporte says it's OK.
I assume MENSA doesn't require proficiency in grammar. Ending a sentence with a preposition, as you did in your pathetic sig., qualifies you as a member of a much larger group, The Society of Simpletons.
Sorry, but the only thing "Live" about "Frampton Comes Alive" was the audience. I've been in the recording business for 22 years, and I feel pretty confident in saying that most, if not all, "Live" records contain little content that is actually concert recording. But that doesn't make those records any less great, which may be the point.
Consider that sonic quality is only one of the factors in making a good record; a good record needs good songs. And remember that making a good record is not the same as making a good-selling record. The majority of the costs associated with a major release are in promotion. The actual production costs (which the artist has to pay back to the record company) are small compared to promo; that's video, print and TV ads, appearences, payola, etc.
The Beatles spent very little making their records. And today, with easy digital recording, good songs can be captured on a cd for almost nothing. But corporate greed can get expensive.
