Don't forget that Ubuntu patches EVERYTHING on your system, versus the monthly Microsoft patches which are just the core OS and possibly Office. And since most of the developers of those other programs that Ubuntu patches are not on Ubuntu's payroll... well, they don't really have much control on whether something is patched or not. They'll patch some egregious things themselves and send them upstream, but... Anyway, you probably know all that. Just wanted to make sure it was clear to everyone else who may not use it ;)

If you're submitting something for publication, a plain text file is best. I used to be an editor on the school paper... we would do all the layout and formatting. It's not the responsibility of the submitter/writer to do any layout other than saying "I want it to look like this" in a side note or something, and we'd take their suggestions into consideration.

Back on-topic, the only formatting that a teacher should specify is margins, line spacing, font size and family. Other than that, it shouldn't really matter.

Sharepoint is a worthless, steaming pile of crap. I have never found it to be more useful than file shares. The only reason I've seen people use it is because it's Microsoft software, and they've drunk the kool-aid. That said, I'm not sure if there's anything else out there that does what Sharepoint does, but does it well.

Or the new services and capabilities enabled because the spectrum is opened up?

Yes, it sucks to not have enough money for things. I've been there. But you know what? If it was important, I saved money and dealt with it. If I couldn't go without my beer for a month to buy a cable box, it's pretty obvious where my priorities are.

So... it's a bad thing that the government is pushing to use the airwaves more efficiently? That's the tone I get from your post, at least. Sure, they may make a bit more money slicing the spectrum up in finer wedges, but that means that's less tax we have to pay and more services we get as the citizens. I'm all for it.

Well, in theory at least. The extra cash will probably be pissed away in some pork-barrel deal and we'll have our taxes raised anyway. But more spectrum available is a good thing at least.

What DRM? Sure, it theoretically supports it, but no one has ever seen it in any SD devices, anywhere. If it doesn't exist in your device, does it matter that the standard exists? HDMI has an encryption option, HDCP, but that doesn't mean that HDMI is a bad interface. It just means that the encryption is retarded.
