Am I the only one to notice that in TFA, they quoted "Javier Movellan" -- "Movellan" being the name of the android race at war with the Daleks in "Destiny of the Daleks"?
If Verizon were content with shared bandwidth, it could offer 100/100, to every Fios customer, starting probably tomorrow. (The limiting factor is the Ethernet jack. Apart from that, the Fios BPON system can do 622 down / 155 up for every 32 customers.) Cable still loses.
I've heard from an imam that the Muslim conception of "Hell" is not eternal -- it more resembles the Christian idea of "Purgatory" (for those Christians that believe in Purgatory). But I don't know whether this is orthodoxy.
He might've been second choice to host something, but it wouldn't have been anything like "Cosmos" as we know it, which was written (not just hosted) by Sagan. I was rather under the impression that Sagan even chose the title, but I won't swear to that.
"Cosmos" would've been little different from dozens of forgettable PBS and Discovery series that came before and after, were it not for Sagan's powerful, poetic writing and delivery, and his profound insight.
Post as "Plain Old Text", instead of the default "HTML Formatted", and it will work the way you want it to. (And you can still use HTML tags, e.g. for italics.)
See? It works. I just typed Enter twice. You can also set "Plain Old Text" as your default under Preferences, Comments, Comment Post Mode, as I have.
It doesn't mean any such thing, unless you have a better reason to assert that than "the gubberment is the slowz!!one!". If it came out in 2002, it certainly is a Bush administration document.
The Wikipedia article on the RAV4 EV (which I saw cited earlier in the comments) says "Only smaller NiMH batteries incapable of powering an electric vehicle or plugging in are currently allowed by Chevron-Texaco."
I went from there to the Wikipedia article on "Battery Electric Vehicles", and from there to this:
In fact, you don't have to send in anything. Copyright registration is a mere formality nowadays -- you get copyright on a work as soon as you write it, and you never have to register.
Are they? True, the cost for a "blockbuster" like Spiderman 3 is higher than it's ever been, even after adjusting for inflation. But that's at the high end. At the low end, digital video and editing is displacing film, for a tiny fraction of the cost. And over time, these techniques are even filtering up to "bigger" films.
RTF Constitution. "The Congress shall have the power... To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries". "Progress of science and useful arts" is the welfare we're talking about, and it's the entire and only justification for copyright. The use of the phrase "Limited times" also indicates that it is not to be regarded as an inherent right.
TTBOMK, apart from the Linux kernel, there's very little code that's licensed GPLv2 only. Most is "v2 or later", because that's what it says in the FSF's boilerplate, and most people either supported that or didn't bother to change it.
You could spend a few centuries building up an atmosphere that's good for, say, a few hundred thousand years -- nothing in planetary time, but a long time in human terms. Repeat as desired. It can be habitable for as long as we want it to, as long as we maintain it.
Not that it's necessarily the best use of our resources.
I don't understand your analogy. Are you suggesting that a) monarchs were not generally thugs, or b) modern elected politicians are not generally thugs? Because I'm not sure I'd agree with either one.
Modern monarchs aren't generally thugs, but only because they have no power anymore.
It should be noted that the Mooninite link is pure speculation by the submitter (and based on a joke on Boing Boing). I think it's very unlikely to be the reason.
I'm no fan of guerilla marketing, and would've been happy to see them charged with, say, littering. But no; it was treated as a bomb threat. That's just stupid.
User Agent Switcher is good for the sites that maliciously check for IE, but don't really need it. I find that a lot of those sites have wised up, and no longer do that. What's left are the sites that are truly locked into IE, via things like ActiveX. So, User Agent Switcher isn't as useful as it used to be. But it's still worth trying.
It seems unlikely that these judges use email at all, or they'd already take spam more seriously. But I dunno... I just can't understand the mentality that would regard these cases as frivolous. Spammers are sociopaths. Sure, it's a very minor piece out of each victim's life -- but multiplied by millions of victims. Personally, I'd give them hard time.

And that's before they upgrade to GPON.
I find Michio Kaku annoying in much the way as you describe for Tyson, though (so far?) I have no problem with Tyson himself.
Does anyone know the nature of the alleged "misuse"?

...and 3DNow! was AMD's. Doesn't seem right for AMD to be introducing an SSE variant.

I love the look of the Prius.
"All she needs now is a ray gun." That's what I thought when I saw the picture.
Weighs plenty on the Moon (50+ lbs.), even more on Mars (100+ lbs.).

There are over 20,000 legal, DRM-free books available here:

And the rest are on Usenet.
Possibly the best thing to come out this will be the complainant's phrase "hacker calisthenics". Let's all use it!

The part where that's actually true.
