...a freebsd virus that can run on Mac OS X is just as good as one that targets Mac OS X.
The problem with this is that FreeBSD uses ELF binaries, and Mac OS X uses Mach-O binaries (not to mention that almost all Macs are still PowerPC based systems, and the PowerPC port of FreeBSD still very alpha and not in widespread use). Therefore a Mac user would have to recompile the FreeBSD virus before it would run on his/her system. This would probably require a fair amount of social engineering, not to mention some moderately detailed instructions.
My parents owned an early 80's model Nissan Maxima and an early 80's model Nissan Stanza that had "interchangable" keys. The Maxima's key cut looked a little bit more complex than the Stanza's, but either car was perfectly happy to use either key.
Instead of being free market, laisez-faire capitalists, we (by which I mean you, I don't subscribe to this) have turned into whiny littly communists.
Laissez faire capitalists by definition "oppose government regulation of or interference in commerce beyond the minimum necessary for a free-enterprise system to operate according to its own economic laws". Patents are "a grant made by a government to an inventor, assuring the sole right to make, use, and sell the invention for a certain period of time". Therefore, patents are interferece in the free market system by the government to assure profit to someone, and by definition, violate the tenants of laissez faire capitalism. The people you are calling whiny littly (?) communists are, in fact, espousing the philosophy you are claiming to support.

7. Orobourous is extreeeeeeemely unstable. Unless they've fixed it since I tried it 6 months ago.
I have been using OrobosX for a few months now and have not had any problems with it. You may want to download it again and try it out, but, as always, your milage may vary.
9. mi is a great little editor - and it's free.
vi is a great little editor - and it's free - and it comes with the OS. =]
The original post... just pointed out the hyprocritical nature of this action.
I believe the original post attempted to point out the hipocritical nature of Netscape's actions, not the hyprocritical nature, or even the hypocritical nature. =P
I learned to program on a TI-82 graphing calculator using the Z80 assembly language.

FreeBSD is already dead.
Does this mean that the FreeBSD 5.0-current development branch is proof of life after death?
