Tell upper management, that turining off security is not an option. What it sounds like you need more is a solution that maintains security while stille providing the cost benefits of not having to reset passwords daily.
You need an identity management solution, or at the very least, a single sign on solution... There are numerous password propogation, synchronization, IM and SSO soloutions available.
Find something that will fit your environment, and run with it. Letting it get to the point where an innocent says "Can we turn it off?" is not going to help you, and you're to fault just as much as the suits when you get hacked because you LET it happen.

Honestly- if Digidesign cut a version of Protools for Linux, I would switch immediately.
