I belive RC stands for remote controlled. For one, I have a neat little mini RC car I got for christmas--and its infared controlled. pretty neat.
If you think about the definitions of the words, however, you figure that 'remote' means anything not in the immediate vincinity. so remote can mean wires attached, radio, or infared; your TV remote for example. Make sense?
