The two inventions I'm looking forward to are credsticks to replace cash
correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we call them credit cards nowadays? [and with the concept of debit cards, the link to "the cash you have on hand" is that much closer]
Personally, I would like to see the seldom talked about "concept" of a complete lack of currency [this is alluded to at times on startrek, and see the book I mentioned later for a more in-depth discussion of just what would happen if the need for "currency" actually disappeared "overnight"]
...of my old "Tom Swift" books I guess -- didn't this kid "invent everything" in the pursuit of "the bad guys"?
OTOH, "The Venus Equatorial" [or was that "equalateral"?] presents an interesting social impact study once things like "perfect copies" are perfected [as in a startrek "replicator"] People simply won't stand still for the desctruction of the concept of currency [ok, it IS early in the morning -- read the book to understand what I'm talking about]
You must be using the wrong browser -- google searches for me incur a 4 character overhead (well, three actually, but I usually add an initial space)
Under Konquerer (KDE/linux) typing "gg:" in the "address bar" followed by what you want to search for automatically goes to a google result page. [and along those lines, "ggi:" does a google "image" search, "ggl:" does an "I'm feeling lucky" search, etc] This is configurable in konq itself, and actually has a bunch of others pre-defined (which, strangely, I never seem to use)
For example:
fm: freshmeat
av: altavista
hb: hotbot [YES, it's already there!]
ly: lycos
sf: sourceforge
seek: GO.com [why?]
msdn: Microsoft Developer...
Oddly, there doesn't seem to be one for/., but you can define your own if you wish (OTOH, it already takes all damn day to read one article, why oh why would I want to make it easier to get "sidetracked" for another 8 hours?)
A tribe that small, in that remote of a location, and Christians still feel the need to impose their religion on them. Quite sad.
OK, I don't remember all of my sunday-school stuff, but isn't "the end of the world" (armegeddon) supposed to happen "the moment when every living breathing person on the planet" has been indoctrinated into christianity [or the religion of your choice...] I think there is "an out" in that people still have the "choice" to not follow on with the religion [and, therefore, be excluded from the upcoming 'rapture' party] but they must have been given the opportunity to become christian...
