Also, they say its not just for Lane's Gifts. It is a 90mln limit based on how many people apply for backdated invalid clicks.
From the blog linked above:
For all eligible invalid clicks, we will offer credits which can be used to purchase new advertising with Google. We do not know how many will apply and receive credits, but under the agreement, the total amount of credits, plus attorneys fees, will not exceed $90 million.
I got a cheapy 64 bit sempron system with crappy onboard 6100 nVidia graphics card (theres an empty pci-e slot available for the summer)
I held off playing half life 2 because I didn't think it would run (I had a 5900 agp previously than ran it really well)
I am running now at 800*600 with full details enabled and 2x AA and I've only noticed one point where it even shudders (the chimney blowing up and falling whilst in the airboat), if anything its smoother on this card than before, and the shaders are tonnes better (water, and nobbly glass doorways especially). The only thing I'm missing is the ability to go to super resolution, but considering what I have gained I'm willing to wait.
What happens when somebody complains about a thorough slashdotting?
Remember, google can be taken off the air when word of a DOS attack happens (I am a firm believer that 99% of DDOS attacks are curious web users on the grapevine testing a site supposed to be under sustained attack)
According to the slash tag beta thingy, we will be able to identify both articles and comments using our own tags.
Some will have meaning in the system:
We're going to build the next generation of moderation on top of tags. That means we're going to poach your namespace. Some tags will have a substantive effect on the system right from the start (or very soon). Our article tagger will know about tags like "dupe" or "typo". When we roll out tagging on comments, we will teach it "troll" and "informative". These tags can have a meaning in the system. And when you come up with ways of using tags that we haven't anticipated, we will bring them into the system.
Hopefully this will mean we can reduce troll/fud/dupe articles from full items down to identified mini ones or even removed completely.
Back ontopic, I agree with you that this article is complete FUD.
But having the key won't help you - especially if you make modifications. From what I can ascertain from the docs, you need to register each modified version for signing so that it can be allowed on the network.
All the applications are signed and the key crosslinked into your app can be enabled and disabled by AOL. If they feel your not doing it right you wont get a valid key.
Its just a way for outside developers to create custom apps for them without having to put the actual dev work in.
All the benefits of open source except for the openness*.
(*sure, you can open source your application, but the end user cannot compile his own version without requiring his own key)
This may help to explain his importance even to this day:
The Backus-Naur form (BNF) (also known as the Backus-Naur formalism, Backus normal form or Panini-Backus Form) is a metasyntax used to express context-free grammars: that is, a formal way to describe formal languages.
Its amazing what scientists can create. I wonder if we could just connect this directly up to the chairs in SCO's offices and solve the worlds energy problems!
Sometimes you strain and strain and strain for what feels like hours and are sorely dissapointed by the piffly splash. Othertimes without even trying your bowels fall out and you almost get swept away by the tidal wave wake it causes.
Don't rush development and for gods sake, flush afterwards.
I have code that I've been holding off developing for a while now - the ideas are still fresh and there isn't any market competition, however I just don't feel relaxed enough to code it yet. The time will come, I'm not going to rush it.
It is news for Nerds because the developers could revolt and demand extra wages or they will start to produce shoddy code.
Errrrrrrrr hang on a minute
Isn't this similar to the Nokia 770?
Only more expensive...
Unfortunately, an awful lot of science ends with...
"So, what exactly did you do before the lab exploded?"

Nahhhhhh, you don't wanna go to all that much trouble, just contact goldenpalace.com and let them know about a wonderful advertising opportunity.
I'm sure they would pay you $$$$$ to go to work in a special tshirt or something.
I'll give you a hint about another little secret:
Have you ever seen Jon 'MadDog' Hall and Santa Claus in the same room at the same time?

I was very pleasantly surprised
1) Goto petshop and purchase a mating pair.
2) Release into basement.
3) ???
4) Profit (well, not losing money getting some super mouse built to order)!
Got a special on carrot flavoured mice this week.
They glow in the dark as well.
Aren't a lot of these tools installed by default with a Linux installation?
Or is this a bonus part of the plot.
Laws against DDoSs. Great idea.

"Here, hold this ball for me please"
a contact surface connected to your recording device on your palm to replay the signal.
This isn't rocket science.
Its easier than finger prints because you don't need the subtle surface, just capacitance and a varying electrical signal.
You could probably rig something up using a recording mp3 player and a disassembled mic.

The most difficult part to getting cold fusion is building yourself a flux capacitor and constructing the time machine around it.
Once you get over those simple issues getting your hands on a Mr Fusion device is childsplay.

Better contact OO.org and demand a refund.
Its available on youtube.

Why is the European president talking about taking over the American market?
Should that be Balmers job?
Hey, its not dupes - those related stories are one of the best parts of the recent update, and I haven't seen any dupes recently - have you?
If only AMD had used open source as the underlying code for their CPU.
Users should be allowed to change their CPU User Agent.
I have a super duper 16 terrahertz mega AMD processor now serve my phone calls biatch.
Remember, there are in house television set top boxes that can emit an RF signal detectable from space!
Look here for an example
If one faulty box puts out so much RF then this report isn't telling porkies and it is not a case of "if", but "when".
