The question is simply whether the limit converges to the an article resembling the truth. If we placed a numerical value to indicate the distance between the information contained in the article and the "truth", almost any reader here would understand quickly and easily that there is no guarantee of convergence in the Wiki.
Any article can be corrupted to any truth distance value at any step of the process. In addition, there is no guarantee that eventually corrections would be made. And if there are useful corrections, there is no guarantee that they too won't be undone.
It's as if Slashdot decided to use only the last moderator to determine whats insightful, interesting or funny.
A sequence of random numbers doesn't converge. Of course, an inifinite set of radom number sequences might contian one that does...
On an infinite timeline, Wikipedia is going to beat the snot out of anyone else--in about 200 years, it will have incorporated everything written before the 21st century into itself.
To speed it along on a realistic pace, the only things that can be done are either contributions or, *gasp*, donations specifically earmarked to hire fact-checkers and editors....
Does this mean it's not going to be useful in my lifetime?
Sometimes I'm amazed at the amount of ignorance that passes for "interesting" or "insightful" - particularly when it is neither interesting nor insightful.
1. To play the game you need to know the rules. So far this discussion is like watching a chess where everyone is standing around arguing about whether castling is legal.
2. You don't play with someone else's toys unless they give you permission. This applies to Intellectual property as well as everything else. He is using their registered trademark without their permission.
3. If PCI-SIG didn't defend its trademark, they would loose it. If you don't enforce against everyone, you can't enforce against anyone.
4. It's the trademark, stupid! Kill the infringing trademark usage and the problem goes away. Yes, you can still use PCI - you just can't use that cute fancy logo that doesn't appear on your keyboard. Letters on the keyboard are font issues.
5. Get a Life! This is NOT a reason to kick anyone - down or up. If the gentleman chooses to close or maintain his site - it is still his still and his decision. Sounds like he's spent a lot of time providing a valuable service to our community and he should be thanked and commended for it. We should be helping him find out how to keep his work going - not whining about how unfair life is.... Thanks!

Overly broad would be a gross overstatement ... obvious ideas are not susposed to receive patent recognition.
