As we don't know if there is anywhere we could live, and getting there would be extremely difficult, the first goal ought to be not using up the earth. It's not a done deed, yet.

Ah, have you ANY idea how far off other stars are?

Google isn't adfree. They use text ads (which load in almost no time). Google *feels* adfree because the ads which appear try to match the search terms. And, if I'm after a commercial site, I often click on them because they've taken the trouble to try to target my search. Another (yawn!) example where Google gets it right. If Yahoo move away from Google, they're pointed in the wrong direction IMO.

Well at risk of jumping into the great debate of "what do users know?" and "what do users deserve?" I've got to say that "And see how it shows up on IE, IE for Mac, Netscape, and Netscape for Mac. They'll all be different sizes" is one of the beauties of the internet. How many times can we say this? There is no way for a "site [to] appear correctly"! What if the user is colour-blind? Or blind? Tell them to go away and adjust their head? So you have an office full of Macs and PCs and your site looks differnt on each. Users won't know! Look how ugly Slashdot is. It's successful. #End sermon --------------
