Didn't one of the recent Mars Orbiters basically explode when they pressurized (heated) the fuel tank prior to it's braking maneuvers? I like the bouncing ball approach, but think it really ought to be backed up by the "really big parachute" approach as well.
Redundancy means not having to say that the failure of a USD.25 part killed your multimillion dollar space machine.
