    Uh, no. We're mostly bashing Microsoft for the bad things they're doing today, like Window 8 and 'Windows Boot'. This is little different to the crap Microsoft have been pulling, because everyone wants to lock users into their hardware and OS to maximize $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

    So, let me get this right. The new consoles are all AMD, these 'AAA' games are developed for consoles and then ported to PCs... but they run like a dog on a PC because AMD?

    Indeed, the cost of backward x86 compatibility is huge, and it is not easy to say what it can be used for on a tablet or smart phone.

    Hint: it's called... Windows.

    People will only buy a Windows tablet if it can run Windows apps, and most of those are 32-bit or worse. Intel aren't likely to release an x86 CPU that can't run Windows any time soon.

    The legacy compatibility can be handled by running a VM. There's not need to support it in hardware at all

    There speaks someone who's never written a PC emulator. Intel already tried it with the Itanium, which is one reason that chip was a disaster.

    How can a trace gas that's essential for plant growth be 'pollution'?

    Next you'll be telling us that oxygen is pollution and we must elimate it from the atmosphere.

    Clearly this agreement was delayed precisely because it would have cost the Democrats more seats in the election. But, given that even the Democrats in the Senate voted against Kyoto, which was tame in comparison, it has no chance of getting through.

    Of course, since the President has a pen, I'm sure this won't even be submitted to the Senate, and he'll attempt to enforce it through the EPA, or some other anti-American Federal agency.

    Duh. Because the politicians who vote for the changes don't want to be around if they actually happen.

    The only people who win from this are the Chinese, as they'll cripple the US economy and don't have to do anything for fifteen years. Fortunately, the Republicans can now ensure any such agreement is dead on arrival.

    Last I looked, road and fuel taxes were about five times the amount that's spent on roads in the UK. It's a cash grab, and a stupid one, because that fuel tax ends up increasing the cost of everything Britons buy.

    It's one of the reasons my standard of living is much better since i moved across the Atlantic, even though i don't earn much more.

    You don't think that maybe Global Cooling has anything to do with it? I was just out driving in the first snow storm of the winter, and I was freaking glad I had my SUV and snow tires while other vehicles were sliding around the road in front of me.

    Well, duh. WTF did you think would happen? People don't want to pay more for cars they buy today to save a few bucks in gas at some point in the future; particularly if they're leasing.

    The fuel economy mandate is just another lame attempt by the left to force people to buy crappy little econocars that they don't want to buy. Because the left know what's good for them better than they do.

    It could have literally been Space Jesus shooting it with lightning - they're in the tourism business, and rich tourists are pretty risk-averse. Any failure is probably going to be enough to kill the business.

    Real, actual rich tourists pay $50,000,000 to fly to ISS in a Soyuz. They're not risk-averse when it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience that few people have had.

    But, yeah, they're probably not taking a War Tour in Iraq right now.
