If everybody drove legally, and all roads were in good condition, this would be true, however, if somebody drifts into your lane, and the only way to avoid being hit is an illegal lane change, is your priority to follow the law, or drive safely?

Usually the caveat the discoverer missed is that if they want to be taken seriously, they need to do their research in a scientific manner, but occasionally, they'll forget that the power from the sun is powering their device (or something of that nature)

yep, way back in 1980 or so when IBM was requiring a second source for 808x processors, AMD wasn't in the business of making Intel compatible chips, they were only making microsoft-compatible chips.

AMD chips run the same binaries as Intel chips, so long as you don't want all the advanced features to be exactly the same... I think that AMD stopped supporting all the opcodes when Intel stopped playing nice, right around the original pentium.

I'm moving off campus for the next school year, and if I don't have funding for a cable modem or dsl, using the ppp (which i imagine only runs at 28.8 or so) will be fine. Any downloads I need to do can be done while on campus.

I'm going to do my best to find a home on campus for my 'desktop' with the debian mirror on it though, cause updating the mirror on a modem would be sad :)
