Seriously, if I wanted to cause a disturbance on a plane using a sharp object, i'd take in a nice glass or plastic sharp object.
If I wanted to cause a disturbance otherwise, I'd learn to be a pilot, and get hired, and then knock out the copilot, and laugh at people trying to get through the locked from the inside cockpit door.
Wearing metal shoes makes a statement: 'wow, these metal detectors sure are making a lot of people take their shoes off, and maybe confiscating some peoples scissors and swiss army knives, but they can take their lighters through, and we'll even give them some flamible materials on the plane for $3'
I'm waiting for the CDC to recommend against taking your shoes off in the airport because of [communicable disease here].
ummm have you worn them through a metal detector? they've got enough in there to set off a detector, especially when the terror alert is one of the scary colors. Not that i agree with the poster about the importance of not setting off metal detectors, but if you're going to try to answer the question, you might as well answer it.
Thank you. I've run into a lot of people who seem to have forgotten that joining a military organization to pay for college might get them in a war. Then they get all whiney about it, when uncle sam comes knocking.
You can (and I have) argued about the way we entered the war, and if it's necessary or not, etc... but signing up for the military means you're willing to put your life on the line for whatever seems like a good idea to those in power.

So here's a question you can't ask: why is it valid to segregate the 100m sprint into "male" and "female", but not into "african" and "chinese"? In one scenario, we are acknowleding that men tend to be physically stronger than women (even though you can find counterexamples), and in the other we are not.
You can segregate based on male and female, because it's generally pretty easy to check for a penis or lack thereof. Not everybody fits, but most do. One of the side effects of removing sexual discrimination is that those that don't fit into one category or the other will certianly fit better into a single category labeled 'person'.
It wouldn't be practical to segregate based on race, because there are no convenient tests for it, and there's a lot more mixing. You could assign people based on their country, but then what's the point of having an international competition?
damn, your cell provider sucks.... mine is nice enough to provide me with caller id info if I answer a call that has blocking activated. I just have go to the web billing interface in a few hours and look at who called me. (this worked the last time I got a call from a number with blocking activated, i don't know if this still works)
Records require more care to maintain in good condition. If my parents did to their records what I've done to my cds, there's no way they'd be still playable. Also, playing a record involves the needle physically touching the record, which can't be good for longevity. (Yes, if you spend an absurd amount on your record player, you can get a contactless one)
Anyhow, I'm not a high-end audio fanatic, and I'm not particularly interested in high-end audio anyhow, so I don't care what they think.
Middle end audio, and lots of it is just fine for me. I curse philips for defining the cd audio standard without the ability to have mono cds, cause I'd rather habe 148 minutes of mono music than 74 minutes of stereo.
at the time she was burned, mcdonalds had a history of losing court battles with regards to the temperature of their coffee, which was higher than the temperature of coffee served by comparable establishments. the award was reduced on appeal. and coffee that is kept too hot sucks too.
I believe, but am not totally sure that the woman in question had asked mcdonalds to simply pay her medical bills, and mcdonalds refused, so they're the litigious asses. (It doesn't seem at all unreasonable to pay the medical bills for people who your rediculously hot coffee burns)
When was the last time the power went out, and you thought 'hey... i wish i had printed out that thing i was working on, so i could read it in the dark'?
Seriously, if you get a UPS, you should only plug the stuff you need to stay on for a little bit longer into it.
since you can get a cheapie tuner card for $50, and that costs $80, i'd go with the tuner card.
if the console supported vga natively, then it'd be another story (dreamcast vga boxes are about $20, cause the console will output 640x480 vga if you ask it nicely)
Since he just wants to hook up the ps2, i doubt he's going to go through the trouble of getting a coax adapter for it, when it comes with the rca output plug.
The TV Wonder VE also lacks the ability to access the sound from it's pci bus too (you have to plug it into line in), but that's not relevant here either.
I don't think SCO is abusing the DMCA a whole lot. If their claims of copyright infringement were as accurate as we must assume they believe, it would be perfectly legitimate.
If the files in question were, in fact, copyright SCO, and SCO had not been distributing them, and there were no compelling reason to think the files should be freely distributable, this would be appropriate.
For example, lets say I had a Metallica mp3 from their recent album on my website for anybody to download. Would anybody cry foul if Metallica, or their label sent my ISP a DMCA notice? I didn't think so.
Some of the googles had display elements in them, so you'ld connect them directly to the vga card.
I know current 3d glasses tend to alternate blocking one eye or the other (synched to the refresh rate, hopefully), but I'm not sure if those were supported in descent.
one of the VR technologies you can use, split the screen in half... the left half was to go to the left eye, and the right half to the right eye... I think there was something in the FAQ about building a mirror contraption to fake goggles for that.

DC shoes are the british knights of footwear, not very business attire friendly
what the hell does that mean? british knights were a brand of shoes in like the 80s
how is using a mac address as a possible lower portion of the address a security or a privacy hole?
It's not required to generate the lower half of the address that way
There is no guarantee of uniqueness of mac addresses
It is easy to tell most OSes to use a different mac address for a given network card
If you're in a position to use the mac address for harm (say spoofing packets on a local network), it'd be damn easy to figure it out anyhow.
if i had the public addresses to use with internal hosts, that doesn't mean I'd let them be connected to.
How much do you want to bet that consumer IPv6 firewalls will just disallow incoming connections by default anyhow to prevent against hax0rs?
SCSI does both async and synchronous as well
I've never gotten anything useful from fastweb, nor has anybody I known.
Do you have first or secondhand experience with it being useful?

The only carrier I know if that does that is sprint. AFAIK they're the only way to get ringers that expire.

where do you live?
I can personally vouch for Los Angeles and Milwaukee having used record shops, and based on that would assume they're available in most metro areas.
Ah ok... that makes sense, and is probably funny now. :)
Why would you plug a printer into a ups anyhow?
When was the last time the power went out, and you thought 'hey... i wish i had printed out that thing i was working on, so i could read it in the dark'?
Seriously, if you get a UPS, you should only plug the stuff you need to stay on for a little bit longer into it.
check on ebay, they make them for that too... they typically are just upscan convertors... it'd be cheaper to get a $50 tv card and use that
since you can get a cheapie tuner card for $50, and that costs $80, i'd go with the tuner card.

they only need two towers... this forms a triangle between the two towers and you, thus the term triangulation.
On the few phones I've seen with this feature, they have a menu to enable it all the time, or to only have it on for 911 calls.
I think it's pretty easy for the phone to tell if you're dialing 911 or not, so when you turn it off, it probably means it's off.
I just checked the employment law poster... In California, you can get up to two hours without loss of pay to vote.
