I dont know about this theory. I mean, Verizon isnt everywhere, but Verizon wireless is. If, in the interest of competition and driving competitors out, you would think they would have different programs and premiums in areas where Verizon exists vs areas where it doesnt. Thus, driving out the wired competition.
PPPFFFTTTT, IBM PS/2 was way better with its sixteen colors display matrix, its 1 minute per page dot matrix printer, and its clickity clackity keyboard of oversized proportions.
Begone ye hippie!
I believe this is the point that Sergey was making. He isnt talking about Googles search engine or online services, but the Android OS vs Apples OS
I believe Penny Arcade said it best.. context is important.
Actually, I think "Worlds, Inc" may have a valid complaint here. If I remember right, Alpha World became Active Worlds.
The previous owner of Alpha Worlds split off or something... There was some sort of drama, which created, I believe, Worlds inc.
For those of you who dont know, Alpha World was essentially a "Second Life" type adventure, where you can claim land a build your own house. Although it was mostly prefab type items, it did evolve to allow some modifications and customizations.
I was known on there as "theone" (this was before Matrix).
Yes, one is designed to spawn fear and trepidation into the uneducated masses whilst the other is a peace time connotation for "WWWWEEEEEE we have packed, what is essentially 5 billion tons of explosives into this long tube and we hope it does what we want."
Although I agree with you, the argument you are using is just as fallacious as the Religious ones.
If you believe one thing over the other, it does not mean you are more right than the other because you believe it to be so.
The difference of faith vs science is that faith requires no proof where science always looks for proof. Until that proof is given, there is no belief.
I say they discover a new land, live on this land for a few years whilst drawing monetary support from Britain, and then get all in a huff about tea time.
That will show em who is boss!
Perhaps, or perhaps this was inevitable. One can draw direct parallels of crimes between the 1800s- and now and internet crimes.
Do I like that a non-regulated entity, such as the government which can claim all sorts of reasons to keep information and secrets, has access to this information?
Nope
Do I have a choice?
Yes. I can stop using the internet, or limit my actions on the internet so that we revert back to the 1990s. I mean, it is illegal for the government to open my mail.
And even though we as normal citizens see a direct connection between internet messages and mail, we are still left with few options.
Yeah, they tend to put themselves in a bubble which leads to this "enlightenment" feeling.
I often bring them into reality with their ideas through requirements, considerations, and costs.
I constantly tell them to bring it to me first so I can show them what it would take, but they would rather shoot off their mouth in a meeting and then feeling like an asshat when I show what it would take.
Those two channels would seem so diametrically opposed that a person who has a choice would watch one or the other based on the political nature each one represents. But then again.... MTV doesnt really play music anymore does it? It is more like a daily regurgitation of dramatic people put into a room and given a task to accomplish that would cause strife and satire in an increasing diatribe of ignorant people. So... yeah, now I see your connection /socialrage
This is how it starts good sir.
If you remember the "cold war" with USSR (Russia), there were many stores about our adversaries and why we should fear them.
When in reality, they matter little because the policies enacted are local to that country.
Actually, it is more of a "wag the dog" type thing they are pulling.
Look at this hand trying to protect your family while the other hand takes away your right to competition, privacy, and underhandedness.
This is one of the pitfalls of capitalism that benefits only one side.
Much like "futures", there is only benefit to causing trouble and turmoil in the market.
The point is that it can be easily spoofed by nefarious people. If the gawker people are acting shady, like the article questions suggest, do you really believe you should trust them?
so you assume.
But as for the "article of questions"... I am not doing Slashdots job for them.
Slashdot, dont you have this new fandangled TV thing where you turn yourselves into journalists?

I agree, failing to protect our future from death is far less important than profits now.

I know you are trying to be funny, but autistic people are better people than those who lurk in 4chan.
Therefore, I find your comment offensive.
