Whether it be for land, resources, or ideals, people have always found excuses to kill each other. Religion is just the current reason of the day.
The difference is that land, resources and ideals don't necessarily lead to mass murder. They can but not always. History has shown that religion demands genocide and has no other possible outcome. I believe that was the point of the grandparent post.
So when's this thing going to be available? And how in their right mind is going to throw down $400 for the 64mb version?
Hmmm... don't know where you are but the Radeon has been available in Canada for quite some time. Furthermore, I've seen the Radeon 64Mb version for around $440 Cdn (~$290.00 US using 66% exchange rate) for the video in/out version. So, to answer your question, a very misinformed individual would throw down $400 for a Radeon 64Mb version.
The card I'm waiting for is the All-in-Wonder Radeon. I just wish Asus would come out with a GF2 with a tv tuner. Carrying around a vcr just to watch tv on your computer sucks & buying an additional tv box is too expensive. So until then I'm stuck with ATI.
well, actually my using "some1" has nothing to do with "eliteness". i'm just not a very good speller. and i frequently spell someone like somewun or somewan or someane. and people started getting confused. they would ask me what i was saying. so for the sake of clarity, i just shortened someone to some1. and ever since then people understand me.
I'm just not as smart as you and that guy on MTV. please forgive my ignorance o elite 1. jacob (hooked on phonics didn't work for me).
> they basically show you what the typical/. reader is like - > jealous, angst-filled, insecure
and don't forget sexually repressed. heh, but that's not unique to/. readers. rather it's prevalent amongst all young males which i think constitute the majority on/.
anyway, i can't speak for the others on this board, but personally, i'm very jealous of this dude. i am jealous of some1 that uses other programs to crack machines. i'm jealous of some1 getting on a channel that i never watch anymore. i'm jealous of some1 so romantically clueless that he thinks that hacking into a computer and finding out stuff about a girl is a good opening line. i'm jealous of some1 living off welfare for most of his life. i'm jealous of some1 getting the crap beaten out of them on tv by a girl. oh ya, i want this dude's life.
well, saddam is a joke but hitler should be #1. my interpretation of man of the century is not nicest guy of the century but rather most influential.
let's face facts. hitler was a brilliant general. u hafta remember britain & france at that time were world powers. and germany basically made asses of both of them. also, this is the same germany that got smoked in WWI and was literally bankrupt for much of the 20s. in 10 years, Hitler brought them back up to super power status. his war basically ended the great depression.
he is also one of the most charismatic leaders. convincing an entire nation that they are superior and capable of taking over the world is a pretty tough sell. (though the states is coming close).
his influence still continues today. it can be seen in the ethnic cleansing in kosovo.
i don't agree with what he did. but give credit where it's due, the dude was a genius. and all genuises go insane.
i was born in canada so english is my first language. but i learned (forced) french in school. so french is my 2nd language. and because i learned it in school, my grammar and structure is much better in french than in english.
see, i pick up all the slang and colloquisms in english because i talk to most ppl in english and so i pick up and learn their incorrect grammer. but since the only french i'm exposed to is in the classroom, the only type of french i know is proper french (not quebecois, international french).
so, in general, ppl's second language is usually better than their first language. i think the only thing difficult about understanding foreigner's english may be the accent.
really? u don't use the STL and exceptions. templates i can understand, but coding my own linked lists and playing with character arrays is not my idea of fun. the stl makes things so much easier regardless of project size. but hey, some ppl like bloating code and creating more work for themselves -- "job security"!!;)
and exceptions? they're pretty useful too. error handling and debugging is much easier with 'em. but that's just personal preference, i guess.
with proper programming you can make good portable c++ code in ms vc++, too. i know cuz i do it fairly often. again, i don't have anything against borland, i was just curious what all the hoopla was about. apparently borland's got some nostalgic value for a lotta ppl here.
templates, RTTI, exceptions etc. have nothing to do with GUI programming. In fact, I was careful not to include any GUI stuff since i'm assuming turbo c is for dos.
Some ppl (like myself) use that crap for building console apps, no gui. so, i'm beginning to think it's more of a trade-off than an issue of one being better than the other. msvc has more features (not including gui stuff) but slower compiles while turbo c is more simpistic and compiles faster. makes sense.
better than MS VC++?? turbo c++ looks kinda old. does it have support for templates, namespaces, exceptions, RTTI, the STL? It's not a rhetorical question, i seriously don't know. i've never used any borland products before. It may be small & sweet which is great for hello worldesque projects but i'm not sure if it's worlds ahead of MS VC++.
Don't get me wrong, vc++ has got a lot of known issues (bugs) and probably the worst STL implementation that i have ever seen but for windows development, it's pretty handy.
Then again i consider myself a novice programmer (just learning semaphores and condition variables) and since my programming experience is limited to just 2 compilers (ms vc++, gcc), maybe i'm just totally clueless and turbo c++ is the best thing since sliced cheese.
ummm, dude, there's a big difference between the bible and the interpretation of the bible.
Now, I don't agree with the catholic church at all, they've been bumbling fools since their inception but to associate their ineptitude with the bible is like blaming violence in society on computer games. i mean crusades, witch hunts, spanish inquisition are all great examples of ppl misinterpreting the bible. (geez, the bible explicitly says killing is bad, it's not that hard to put 2 and 2 together). I've seen a lot of ppl make this erroneous argument about not separating people's mistakes with the bible.
Next, you're also wrong about sex leading to procreation not being that bad a thing. It's the worst thing actuallly. The biggest problem in the world today is overpopulation. If there were 1/10 the number of ppl in the world then instead of thousands dying in wars, it would only be hundreds. Instead of millions starving, only thousands would be starving. See how reducing global population solves everything? =)
assembly, pfff... plz, nobody uses that crap anymore.
html is REAL programming. excuse me but html can do animated gifs and blinking text. c'mon!! lets see some assembly coder do that in 2 lines or less. i think not.
That's the problem with old timers they just don't realize superior technology when they see it: windows, activex, word macros, VB. nope, they get stuck with 30 year old technology: mainframes, unix, assembler, c. they just can't see progress like us teenagers.
You have to remember who redhat's target audience is: windows users converting to linux. So, they will be more concerned with how their site looks in windows (and it looks good in windows).
Most current linux users stick with they're current distro (I've only changed once), so there's not much profit making the site appeal to current linux users.
It's a sound business move and I respect them for that.
I don't think it was MTV (they are pretty yuppy), but some reporter asked Eddie Vedder on the day that their album "Yield" was released, how he felt knowing that a lot of people already had the entire CD in MP3 format before the album was even released.

didn't sound too disgruntled to me.
