Man, I'd buy a 486 for $10... don't sell it on eBay though, because to find it, someone would have to specifically be looking for a 486, and the chances of that are slim... Just find a computer geek, almost any one of them will give you at least $10 for it, probably more if youask.
Holodecks aren't gonna happen, hmm? A few months ago Gov. Rick Perry (Texas) adressed a convention in San Antonio (I think) from Austin. When polled, 80% of the people said that the Governor was physically giving the speech. How, you ask? A 3d hologram. I kid you not. It isn't as far as you might think. The future never is.
Umm... there are many... it's called turning up your setting from the very lowest possible (yes, I know you like your 640X480 res, but it's time to move on)
Are you kidding me? Why is that an excuse for treating people like crap? Regardless of whether it's a game or not, there's a person on the other side of that computer screen, and in this case, he was conned out of quite a bit of money.
I hate that people use this to justify their actions... Talking to someone on the phone is "only sound waves" or seeing someone is "only the reflection of light," but do you use those as excuses for being a horrible person?
If it were me that that happened to, I'd be out for blood.
That's one of the reasons AMD is losing hundreds of millions each quarter. Actually, the reason AMD is losing so much money is that they're losing business to Intel's damn effective marketing team (and slightly due to the fact that Intel pulled ahead with the 3.06, but that processor is such a small piece of the market share it hardly makes a difference)
The common person associates Pentium with all processors, jsut as they associate Windows with all OS's... It's called good marketing; they got people to know their name, and that led to (almost) all computer companies selling (almost) solely Intel processors...
Damn you AMD... learn how to market your processor...
Umm... most companies do specify which one you're buying... (I know Fry's certainly does, they have the different ones seperated and labeled as such)
Just pay attention and you shouldn't have a problem
What's the alternative? Never introduct a chip until it's cheap? Doesn't work that way, for a whole lotta reasons.
Mainly being that the price drops due to:
1)Reduced costs, caused by being produced in larger numbers (which is caused by people buying, allowing them to produce in larger numbers)
2)Superior competition, caused by other companies releasing better products (which are absurdly expensive)
Couple other things, just can't think of em offhand...
The best product on the market will be the most expensive, and as it becomes no longer the best, the price drops, welcome to economics
Beautiful.. just beautiful.. I play EQ too, and this commemt just warmed my heart... this is exactly why I (and other people) play EQ... This is what makes it great! I was almost laughing with pleasure of remembering my EQ experiences (3.5 years) while reading this.
I have it! John Romero's.
Her? But she's HOT!

Umm... Did you miss the GEForce FX reviews?
It sucked, the reviews said so, GEForce or not.
ATI and NVidia usually get good reviews because they usually make good products, it was true of 3DFX before they stunk up the house too.

You CAN buy an XBOX and PS-2, but then people would make fun of you for being a console gamer...
Sorta like this:
"Aww... widdle baby's got his pwetty pwaystation."
Be a real man, spend more money on your computer... You know you want a water-cooled system (I know I do)
heh

Except that the newer ones do shutdown if they overheat. Problem solved.

This deserves a 5!
