Which only underlines the point that copier manufacturers are jamming all sorts of needless functionality in there to try and maintain relevance. Yes, I said needless. Who actually uses the copier anymore? For that matter the FAX machine?
However, the transmission CANNOT be shifted out of Park unless both of the following two conditions are met: the ignition is in the "ACC" or "RUN" position (proper RFID key isn't needed, as the engine need not be running) and the brake pedal is pressed. This is a designed safety feature
There is always a manual override to this feature. If you look around the gearshift there is generally a slot where you can stick your key or a screwdriver to disengage the lock. It may be cleverly hidden behind a cover. My 97 Pontiac recently lost power (alternator) and the manual override had to be used to get the car out of park as the interlock between the key/brake pedal/transmission is electric.
You seem to have equated poor with stupid in your mind.. at least based on your anecdotes. (Aside: Please don't use anecdotes as argument.) There are smart poor people (yourself at one time), and there are stupid rich people. How people spend their money does not make them poor or rich, unless they spend themselves into the poorhouse. How much money they have does. As for government assistance.. while there are and always will be problems in the administration of entitlement programs, that does not mean that those who deserve assistance should be denied. That you know people who are gaming the system doesn't change the fact that there are many people who aren't gaming the system and are barely scraping by even with government assistance.
Somehow, I have a really hard time feeling sorry for these "poor" (even though they are my relatives) and those like them.
So do I. It doesn't change the fact that they simply don't have any money.
What you think doesn't matter. "Poor" and "rich" have concrete definitions. Did you know that 20% of the population believes they are in the top 3% of income earners? Sad.
1.(B) diverting the Internet browser of the computer, or similar program of the computer used to access and navigate the Internet, away from the site the user intended to view, to one or more other Web pages, such that the user is prevented from viewing the content at the intended Web page;
A liberal interpretation would include Gator/GAIN ad replacement. The ad is part of the content at the intended web page. As users, we may not think so, but the site operator sure as hell does. However, Gator does not technically divert the browser away from the intended site, it modifies the intended site. I would think that because the browser must contact Gator servers to download the replacement ad, it would fall under this section.
(9) Installing or executing on the computer one or more additional computer software components with the intent of causing a person to use such components in a way that violates any other provision of this section.
Nope. I'm a PC gamer as well. A game doesn't have to be outstanding to be fun. Halo and Goldeneye are examples of this. If I could articulate exactly what makes these games fun, I would have a different job.
Actually, no country in its right mind would use WMDs on forces that are within its borders.
Funny, since one of the most commonly used lines by the Administration was and is, "Saddam Hussein used Weapons of Mass Destruction on his own people!" Also, we've been told time and time again that Saddam is 'insane' and that "I will not put the security of the United States in the hands of a madman." Really, what did he have to lose?

You're right. Nothing about the game was particularly spectacular, except this: It was fucking fun. Isn't that what counts?
Option 2 means - you are a sad geek liable to end up in court
Why? I'm recorded when I enter/leave work (not by my employer), when I go to the bank, when I go to the post office. Hell, even the deli I go to has 2 cameras. Why am I all of the sudden not allowed to record people like most businesses do?
I'm confused. I'm taped every time I walk in/out of my building. The hallway cam also probably catches me when I go to the bathroom. I'm taped when I go to the bank. I'm taped when I go to the fucking deli. Why should I be worried about taping people in my own home?
In the story about Universities banning Wireless APs, the groupthink was "It's their property, they do what they want." Now the groupthink seems to be "You'll get sued!" What happened? We only stick up for the property rights of the big guy?
(That's over a whole year, assuming you buy a ticket every week).
A ticket to which lottery? There are many, and the odds of winning (the jackpot) in Pick-3 (1:1000) are much lower than winning Mega Millions (1:135,145,920).
Odd. I read this on CNN before I saw it on Slashdot. I only use the front page.. I think it was 4th headline. Now it's first headline under "Technology".
The Kerry campaign has been using law suits and other tactics to keep Nader off.
To my knowledge, the DNC is only using lawsuits to stop Nader. Why? Because he does not meet the statutory requirements to be listed on the ballots in many states. I believe it was Ohio where out of the 5,000 required signatures, ~3,500 were invalid. It simply isn't that hard to get 5,000 valid signatures in a state the size of Ohio if you have real support.
What do you want out of the candidates re: Iraq plan? Exact deadlines for troop removals? Exact numbers of troops to be removed? Exact deadlines for voting? What will convince you? I'm serious, as I see a lot of people complaining about how there are no plans for Iraq. I believe there are no plans for Iraq because of a very simple reason: it's impossible to plan chaos, and it's impossible to see the future. If John Kerry gives specifics now, he'll be held to them when he gets the job on Jan 20, 2005. Do you think the situation in Iraq will be the same in January as it is now? One can only hope it will be better and Kerry's plan would be made obsolete. He can't rely on that hope, though.
Only one candidate has the power to change Iraq at this very moment, and he's not doing squat.
To give you an idea of how much oil holds our economy at ransom, take a look at home many of the products outside of oil we use/depend on are based on oil.
Most people don't realize that many products, such as plastics and tires, rely heavily on petroleum derivatives.
Bullshit. Bush attacked Kerry on his multilateralism, not because of his criticism of Bush's policies. Bush made it clear that he didn't need international authority to defend US interests. That pretty much sums up the difference between the two.
100% lies. Kerry has repeatedly said that he will never give a veto on US action to another country or the UN. There are many differences between the two, but this isn't one.

Now if your working with MS for MS SQL... However if you hire a Linux hacker, you have part of the team that does the actual developement on the software that you use working for you. Just a phone call away and he is probably almost personal freinds with the rest of the team and can contact other developers for you.
What a joke. Everyone who can administer RDBMSs on Linux is suddenly buddy buddy with the developers of MySQL or Postgre?
By which pundits? Democrats use talking points, I don't deny that. However, the GOP is much more effective at spreading and sticking to a uniform message, even when it's a blatant lie.
He had the chance to stand up and do the right thing against the "patriot" act, and he voted for it!
Please. If Kerry had voted against the PATRIOT Act you would be standing here saying "Kerry voted against the PATRIOT Act! He supports terrorists!"
No one, except Russ Feingold D-WI, had the foresight to vote against the PATRIOT Act. Once people got a chance to read the legislation, something the Republican controlled Congress does not allow, they realized it was an error.
I wondered throughout the original trial, and later, why there were no security experts called by the DoJ to testify to the security problems inherent in this integration?
I don't think it is relevant to the question at the heart of the case: Did MS illegally use monopoly power? It doesn't matter how good or bad their product is.

Short answer: Everybody

Not sure if anyone noticed.. but this post happens to support some of the anti-Linux talking points:
Linux developers are lazy and/or fickle. They will work only on what they want to work on.
"...only makes me more likely to remove myself from the CC list and forget about it."
There is little/no money to be made from developing Open Source
"Many of the people who fix bugs (for example, me) aren't paid."
I never considered myself "poor"
What you think doesn't matter. "Poor" and "rich" have concrete definitions. Did you know that 20% of the population believes they are in the top 3% of income earners? Sad.

What about this clause?
(9) Installing or executing on the computer one or more additional computer software components with the intent of causing a person to use such components in a way that violates any other provision of this section.
It says "such that the user is prevented from viewing the content at the intended Web page;"
If you're going to a non-existent domain, there's no content to view. Doesn't apply.
