I grew up during the Cold War. That's a good reason to be fixated on the Russians in general and Putin in particular.
No it isn't. It's good reason to hate communists, no matter where they are, including the White House and the DNC. The cold war was never about Big Bad Russians. It was about the communist stranglehold on the Soviet Union. Once the Soviet Union communists were repudiated and folded their tent, it became stupid to act like nothing changed.
Wake the hell up. The political poles shifted. The enemy is now within, and Russia is not now a force for evil.
With the virulent anti-American race-baiting one-man wrecking crew soon exiting the White House, attention should focus on the scum-sucking bag of pus Ryan as the new center of evil in Washington.
The Constitution does not anywhere define "enemy" as only "an opponent in a declared war". Anyone who doesn't think anarchists, and stateless terrorists, and countries which don't bother to declare war before opening hostile fire, are enemies needs to do some more thinking. Now, having said that, Russia is not an enemy.
Wrong. It doesn't say "tabs are OK". It specifically says that where idiots have already created a codebase using tabs, it is permissable not to confuse things hopelessly for the special snowflakes by trying to change it.
It _IS_ a mandate that the style to use when creating Python code is 4 spaces per level of indentation. Wake up.
Using tabs for indentation is a mental disease. Also, PEP 8. Tabs are not Pythonic and should not be used. You're free to torture your programming language however you please, but if you expect others to respect your work, you are advised to adhere to the rules.
The definition of "enemy" is "a hostile nation or its armed forces or citizens, especially in time of war". Exactly how is Russia "hostile" to the US? Not hostile to batshit-crazy figures in the US, mind you, but to the US.
Maybe you don't know what hostile is. You want hostile, how about a theocracy of geriatric warped crazies whipping up Iran against the Great Satan?
Like every overblown debating society, Congress is a cesspool of fucking up every single decision. I understand the merit of a brake on runaway gratuitous screwing around with goofy initiatives, but jesus, it's disappointing that it never improves. I guess that's just the natural way zoos work. Monkeys will always throw their own shit.
Bullshit. You can edit them to your heart's content while composing them, and then you get a chance to Continue Editing after hitting Preview. Once you are satisfied and you hit Submit, the paper goes to press. Do you think you can magically "edit" your column in a newspaper after it has been rolled out? Do you think you can "unsay" something after you have delivered a speech? Look, I know it takes a little discipline, and yes, I have embarrassed myself more than once. But, like many things in life, there is merit in applying yourself.
I don't consider it a big deal to issue a clarification.
As I said, exec and particularly dynamic linking do indeed slow it down further, but it's got a LONG, LONG way to go before it gets up to even "blink of the eye" level, let alone actually objectionable.
Do you think that is really reaching? If somebody really wants to read web sites without having internet connectivity, let him "save as" or "print to PDF" ahead of time.
No, I call the browser designer daft. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for ANY of those tabs, except the one that is current, to be using ANY CPU at all. A sane design would keep them all frozen and just update one when you revisit it. Duh.
Even reloading 100+ tabs from the source sites on starting a browser with saved state is STUPID. All the tabs except the active one should just contain a pointer to the source site on startup. Then they can be updated one by one as they are revisited.
What the hell are you doing with that many [10-15] tabs open.
Are you daft? I usually have at least 100 tabs open, and often get to 200-300 before the crappy piece of shit browser gets unacceptably sluggish and is hogging close to 100% of the CPU just sitting idle.
OK, I just benchmarked 1000 forks in C++ on the lowest-end desktop Sandy Bridge Core i3-2120T running at a reduced frequency of 1.6 GHz. I got 89,130: a whopping 89.13 microseconds per fork.
Safari runs a web page as it's own process for security reasons.
Isn't process creation on the order of a millisecond or so on a modern computer?
Bingo. It's actually well under a millisecond for fork + exit on current hardware. More when you add exec including dynamic linking, but still on the order of milliseconds. Much, much faster than you could blink your eyes. It is completely specious to suggest that thread-per-tab or process-per-tab has any detectable effect whatever on real-world performance.
This freak is clinically insane; completely detached from reality. Russia has thousands of nuclear warheads and the means to deliver them. They are ringed by forces hostile to them, and have a history of being viciously attacked and invaded in WW II, WW I, and before (Napoleon).
If you are even halfway sane, you don't threaten them with unspecified aggression. Especially without even presenting slightest shred of evidence of them doing any harm whatever to the US.
The parent company is [American], but it has subsidiaries all over the world.
WHY? Why in the fuck would a company be that fucking stupid? What would that gain them except subjection to STUPID laws like this one? Look, I hate Facebook with a vengeance. I wish it would die. But how could any company be that stupid?

Ryan is a cancer. You can't "fix" a cancer to "act nice". You have to cut it out or nuke it.

"Worst" is not a typo of "worse". The "t" is not next to the "e". Only stupid people confuse worst with worse.

Wrong. That's not what the PEP 8 I'm reading says. As noted.
BTW, I'm nowhere near as diplomatic as Guido. IMO, anyone who uses tab characters for indentation is a moron. I also much prefer 2 spaces to 4.

What the christ does Python's "one clear way to do any given thing" philosophy have to do with using indentation to denote blocks?
Nobody cares about HO's. Best keep your personal hangups to yourself. It's like emacs vs vi. Just be happy with what you like.

These putzes deserve to be run out of business.

Now you're just saying "it's fast because I say it's fast". But we have discussed at length all the stupid ways in which its performance is wrecked.

You can be an apologist for shitty design and shitty programming if you wish. I won't.

Snort. QNX was an RTOS developed by Quantum Software Systems 30 years before Blackberry gobbled it up.
