Not for Supreme Court Justices, we can't. They are appointed for life. 3 (or 4) appointements could mean 20-30 years worth of left or right leaning influence in the highest court, depending on the winner of this election.
Remember slashdot kids, if it's on TV on in your local movie theater, it's got to be true, right?
Fox news is on TV too, correct? Ergo, it must be true too. Or is my logic a bit faulty here?
The bottom line is that all of these outlets have an agenda. It is up to the individual to watch, listen, read, and them make an informed desicion. Unfortunately, here in the US, most people wait to be told what their position should be.
I also could have killed the engine simply by turning the ignition to the "off" position, even with the key out. The ignition "collar" (not sure the correct term for it) functioned as if the key were still in there. My problem was that I was 100+ miles from home with no key to start the van back up once the engine was killed:) My wife was none too happy with me that day. I now carry a spare with me wherever I go.
I had a POS Ford Aerostar van where the teeth on the key were so worn down that you could start the van up and then remove the key by pulling it straight out. The vehicle would continue to run with no key in the ignition. It was kind of handy in the winter because I could run out, start the car, pull the key and lock the doors while it warmed up. I got bit in the ass by this little trick one day tough. My wife and I were heading to New Hampshire (2+ hour drive for us) for a ski weekend. We got in the van to leave when I realized I forgot something in the house. I pulled the key and left the van running. I ran inside, got what I needed, hopped back in and off we went. We got to the hotel and I went to park the car. I reached down to kill the engine and, you guessed it, no key. That was a very quiet, very tense ride back home to get the key...

Damn, I didn't check the spelling, I just copied and pasted from the parent post. My bad for assuming it was correct. I stand corrected (Villainous scum).
What a lot of us seem to forget all to easily is that there is something called information overload, and learning the command prompt/SysVinit runlevels/Samba configuration/hosts.Allow/Deny.... all at once is an easy way to get there. We didn't learn all of this in one weekend, so we shouldn't expect others to.
You just hit the nail on the head. I am a Linux newb myself (at least as far as running it at home goes). I had some Linux knowledge from work as we were using Apache and Perl for our corporate website. In the last couple of weeks of getting Fedora Core 2 set up I have had to deal with:
The dual boot with WinXP issue (found a workaround that worked)
Getting my nVidia card to work (had to use a kernel that was compiled without the 4k Stacks, somehow figured it out)
Set up Samba in order to create shares and to get to the point where I can connect to a Win 2000 networked printer (got the shares working, but I don't think I will ever get the printer setup)
Figure out how to get my USB pen drive recognized (will tackle this one this week)
etc.
I consider myself to be quite technically inclined, and I have had quite a bit of trouble getting going with Linux. I can only imagine how someone without a clue as to how computers work would do trying to get a system up and working. If the grokdocs site wasn't/. 'ed I would have much insight to add...
Investing in companies and placing your capitol back into circulation is not a problem, in fact our economy would collapse without it. The problem lies with the corporate mantra of "must please the shareholders at any cost". Corporations are in business to make money, that is a given, but it is possible to do this and to be a "good citizen" as well. Take care of your employees and they will take care of you in return.
Does that mean they will refund the cash I already paid for the Home Media Option? I purchased the HMO at a reduced price during a campaign they ran earlier this year while they were promoting all sorts of new and improved features that were coming to the HMO service. This seems to be a bit of an FU to those of us that purchased the HMO already.

I use Home, PgUp, PgDn, and End all day long. Combined with the Ctrl and Shift keys, they are very powerful for navigating aound your documents, editing code, etc. Once you master using these keys and their Ctrl/Shift combos, you will rarley use a mouse again.
Amen. I keep a copy of Firefox in my toolkit for when I need to exorcize the demons from the computers of my friends and family. I tell them to use Firefox for "the internet" instead of IE. It takes some convincing, usually, because most folks associate the little blue "e" on their desktop with "the internet". Once they use Firefox for a while and discover the joys of a pop-up free web experience, there is usually a 12-pack of cold frosties waiting for me.
It is up to all of us techies to help spread the word to our less-knowledgeable friends/family about Firefox, AdAware, Spybot, Oo.org, etc. If we can get these folks to break away from non-standards compliant software, then we will all benefit.
If you have running processes that are accessing files on these partiton (like SQL Server accessing a database file or a SourceSafe repository) then the Windows defrag utility will not attempt to defrag these files. If this is true in your case, try and shut down these apps or services and it should be able to defrag these files.
I know for a fact that Walmart is indeed installing cameras in the entry/exit foyers of their stores. My brother just completed installing them in around a dozen locations around New England.
The moral of your story is incorrect. A company is not evil simply because it makes money, a company can be considered evil because of how it makes money.
For a good example of a successful, responsible company, google for "Malden Mills", a company that manfactures high-tech textiles in Massachusetts. They had a devastating fire a few years back, but instead of cutting all their employees loose, they continued to provide them with full salary and benefits up until they were able to re-open their facility. The moved almost killed the company, but they recently emerged from chapter 11 and are back on track.
It is fully possible to make money as a company without tramping all over you employees/suppliers/manufacturers.
a) Cubic zirconium looks just as good. Many other gems that cost less actually look better.
Try to explain that to a real-world, emotion-having, concerned-about-what-her-friends-think woman and see how far you get. "But honey, the Cubic zirconium is just as good as a diamond, plus we aren't supporting DeBeers! Hey wait, where are you going? Honey? Baby?"
Thanks to South Park, this is now known as the "Chewbacca Defense".

Here you go.
To be able to test web apps on the various Mac web browsers, for one. I'm sure that there are any number of other reasons why folks would want to.

Villianous Scum, I like that phrase. I think a new Google bombing is in order:

Saving money means that the business can either spend more on employees
Good one, you got me rolling on the floor...
invest in better equipment, new tech, etc,
Quite possible. Too bad the new equipment will be for the new offices/facilities in Bangalore...
or just give the shareholders a nice return
Bingo, that is the correct answer.
I have seen NAV block this while using Firefox.

1. Convince all the software manufacturers in the country that they need someone to manage their industry.
We already have the BSA to take care of this...Pink Floyd has prior art on that (scroll down to Miscellaneous)
As soon as you spend the counterfeit money, you have stolen the goods that you received in exchange for the counterfeit. Nice try, though.

I haven't watched cable TV in 7 years.
