This is on the level of tobacco causes cancer denial, and global warming denial.
There are massive numbers of cases of fracking causing environmental damage. Willful denial by the fracking industry and it's supporters is not the same thing as "never proven".
Holding a phone in texting position and videoing position is a very different thing. If you video when in the texting position, you'd get video of the table or your lap.
With Google Glass, either would be a problem, since presumably sending a message requires talking at it.
So now it's not enough to want to do something good for the environment, we have to adopt a particular health lifestyle too?
Huh? How does the availability of both throttle and pedal assist cycles restrict your choice to only the healthy alternative? If you want to be able to not pedal, get a throttle control. If you want to get fitter, get pedal assist.
I'm with you completely. Choose whichever you want. Why the grumpiness?
Loaded trucks in a parking garage? Overstating much?
The complaint from the other user was seeing such extensions, not the danger of driving over them. It's quite a leap to imagine that someone is trailing an extension across an access road, such that other cars are driving over it.
Of course, in the unlikely event that someone is doing that, the correct response is to deal with it there and then. Not just see it, and clock it up mentally as something you are tired of.
Pretty much. Over the years I've dismantled most things I didn't previously understand the workings of. And now with the internet, there's really no excuse for not knowing how things work, if you're an engineer.
Not expecting a cop to be an engineer. But expecting the cops to be able to investigate the contents of a Nissan Leaf Spec Sheet isn't too much. Heaven help them when there's a murder if they can't manage even that much investigation.
No problem at all in wearing a head cam and recording outside. So long as you don't get in someone's face to annoy them. Wearing a head-cam in most indoor spaces is a different matter. Huge difference.
And if you want to throw a punch over being recorded? Better be sure you really did get every device.
Sounds like you are quite a punchable person. If you think having a camera is going to protect you, you may well find you're mistaken. It's more of a provocation than a defence.
Most cops are right wing. Most right wingers seem to have a petulant problem with anyone that choose to reduce their fossil fuel use. No further explanation needed.
I'm getting pretty tired of seeing extension cords snaking through parking lots and parking garages.
Huh? What exactly is "tiring" you? How does a sight even tire one? If they are YOUR lots and parking garages then fair enough, that would be annoying. But if they aren't, what the fuck have those cables and whatever arrangements they have or do not have have to do with you?
Mind you own fucking business.
Not that I'm excusing this guy taking the schools electricity or anyone else taking electricity. But what the fuck has it to do with you? To the extent that it "tires" you?
But designed to be used for what and by who? it might be there for powering Xmas lights, or for outdoor events, or whatever. But it wasn't put there for members of the public, even parents, to use.
Don't get me wrong, I think this was a cop going over the top. But it was also a car driver taking electricity he knew wasn't intended for him. It's not logically any different from a gas car driver spotting a gas can left outside someone's property, and using it to top up his tank.
It's just growing pains though. As we move to more general owning of electric cars, these things will have to be worked out. Premises with outdoor electric sockets will have to think about whether they want car owners to top up for free, to set up some paid charging system for them, or to lock the power away.
It has the smell of the car owner not giving the cop the respect he thought he deserved, and the cop then acting within the letter of the law to teach him some respect.
I can't see any other reason why the cop would have pushed this.
In most of the developed world crime is falling, and has been for years. Whilst there's no conclusive proof that one of the reasons is increasing security cam coverage, I suspect it's no coincidence.
This this only works on fixed gear bikes. For less than the $700 this device costs you can purchase an entire bicycle with 27 gears that will climb hills this thing would stall on.
This only works on fixed gear bikes for now. There's plenty of other options for geared bikes. And whilst your money is on pedal power, my money is on electric motors. Especially when they are adding to pedal power.
27 gears? The number of gears is irrelevant. It's the ratio of the lowest gear. And as I said get that too low and you won't keep balance going up the hill.
They shouldn't just get a free pass to kill endangered species any more than big oil etc
Neither bald eagles nor golden eagles are endangered. Nor will the become so given the modest numbers that get hit by turbine blades.

People? Like Soylent Green?
Hint: you're hinting at nothing.
If it was pure H2O you'd have a point. But it's not, and you don't.
You need to take a look at the very long list of hazardous chemicals they put in that H2O.
accused of, but never proven.

It's the same as the Steve Jobs hate. A CEO identified with a product some people can't afford. The hatred is envy.
Lockable outdoor outlets have been available for decades.

Do you know how everything in the world works?

As the cops confirmed they'd given no permission, it was certainly petty theft.
The inclusion of a pointing device is hardly revolutionary.
Follow the thread. This is about pointing devices below the keyboard. That's what was claimed as a first for Apple.
Most cops are right wing. Most right wingers seem to have a petulant problem with anyone that choose to reduce their fossil fuel use. No further explanation needed.
If it was a significant problem they'd have put a padlock on the outdoor socket already. Or switched it off at the circuit breaker inside.
office couldn't know electrical draw.
Well not if they were stupid I suppose. But anyone with any intelligence could find out what the power draw of a Nissan Leaf was.
it's good to bring the hammer down hard on stupid electric car owners who think their being "green" gives them a right to tresspass or skank power.
I find the inability to use capital letters, and the use of the word 'skank" are an infallible guide to stupid people.
Well done for confirming your stereotype.
There was only a report made on the day. The decision to arrest came days later, AFTER the identity of the man was known to the cop.
I'm getting pretty tired of seeing extension cords snaking through parking lots and parking garages.

Not locking something up is not, and has never been an excuse for theft.
This case certainly wasn't worth pursuing. But let's not pretend it wasn't petty theft. It clearly was.
Your suggestions have about as much legal relevance as "finders keepers". i.e. none.
