  1. iList Studio might work for you on Replacing FileMaker with Free Software? · · Score: 1

iList Studio is a graphical front end to MySQL. It supports forms, reports, all in a Macintosh application (no, I have no relation with them). Reading between the lines of the web site, it looks like they were doing their own DB and then switched to using MySQL as the back end. Because of that, they've added some "meta types" to MySQL, including calculation fields and images. It isn't free, but it is less expensive than the FileMaker 7 upgrade.

  2. PGP for OSX on PGP Acquired From NAI · · Score: 1, Redundant

On PGP.com's new site, they also have announced that they will be providing a version for OSX this fall! Hopefully it will support many of the OSX mail applications, and it will also give us PGPDisk. Both are features I use quite a bit. On the down side, they also note that the OSX version won't include PGP Firewall or PGP VPN. It looks like those features will be later and as a separate product.

  3. Micro-payments? on The Future of Making Online Revenue? · · Score: 1

Subscriptions might not be acceptable, but if a micro-payment scheme might be acceptable. That way, interesting content could generate revenue for itself, not based on what ad deals can be struck. It would tend to make the content on the web better.
