'Quake' itself come out closer to 8 years ago, and ran under DOS without any kind of hardware graphics trickery.
And of course, there's a linux version available, a mac version, a windows version, a pocketpc version, linux 'task tray' (or something) version, a linux textmode version, versions that do single player and internet play rather well...
Mell, I'm sure I could list more, but I'm not awake yet. Morning.
The best way to make money and stick to the GPL is to use external resources. Coders who are willing to work under the GPL don't mind giving their code away free, but obviously, they need to get paid.
All these little icons and even bits of text can be stored in an external file, which is required to run the program. It's still GPL compliant, and you still get some comeback on your work.
They do. At least, my ISP does (BT, the national telco) as well as Gamespy.
Never really tried IMAP, to be honest. I thought it was legacy. But then it may be and you're all laughing at me:(
I may hate CVS, mostly because of the lack of good Windows clients, but even still, how in the name of all that is h0ly can they allow a patent on a filing system?
They better not be the people that meant I couldn't watch Sabrin the Teenage with a few years back :(

Thank the lord for POP ;)
I know it sounds silly, but at the government agency I'm currently working at, I just asked if we could go with it.
I'm not even on their payroll, permanent or contract. It's more of a work placement thing as part of a government training scheme.
It might have something to do with the fact that I promised it'd be easier to use that updating it in MS FrontPage.
I already have to juggle DLLs, I don't want to contend with windows...
...and not a tech to tink.
Whenever I try, I can't get at it :(
