This is nonsense, evolution works over hundreds of thousands of years. You are talking about particular social circumstances which have not even been that prevalent for 100 years, it's very unlikely the world is going to freeze in its present state for the next hundred thousand years to allow the kind of "negative evolution" you are describing to occur.
Having religious beliefs is fine but when religious beliefs start to affect the real world then that's not fine and unfortunately the best way of stopping that is to try and wipe out religious nonsense whenever it rears its ugly head.
Without religion there is a good chance the pub wouldn't shut half an hour earlier tonight.
So the participants simply have to create a small creative work without using, "stealing", any ideas which may have already been used by a previous member of humanity or corporation. That's not too hard is it ?
The works of Maureen haven't been banned, this magazine has just stopped publishing them. Maureen can, does and will continue to create her works elsewhere and anyone who wants to read them is free to do so, albeit maybe having to pay Maureen for the privilege.
I think the Scientology issues you mention are different because they involved attempts through the courts to remove material completely from the public domain.
There is a difference here and it's an important one.
I don't think they are "getting rid" of Maureen so much as refusing to publish her articles, I think she does some Linuxgram thing which people can subscribe to and no doubt those lucky readers will still get the benefits of Maureens insights.
Even if it does turn out that the PJ MOG has tracked down is the real one it still does nothing to justify MOGs pathetic article.
I don't care what she looks like, I don't care where she lives. By reading Groklaw I can judge for myself whether she is someone who's opinion I trust or someone with an ulterior motive.
MOG's article is entirely pointless and written in an unnecessarily vindictive tone, I think she must just realise that most of the world now relies on PJ for an analysis of the SCO/IBM case rather than MOG herself.
This is a very good point, the reason we have governments is to stop random individuals who happen to have amassed a lot of money and/or weaponry and followers from forcing us to do as they say.
Not true, I am doing some work for the admin arm of the NHS and doing nothing, all day, is the norm.
Maybe if you did do something there is a chance it could go wrong and I'd be sacked but more likely me doing something would have the knock on effect of causing someone else to have to do something, a scenario which would no doubt be frowned on and could result in me getting the sack.
Britain is the 4th largest economy in the world, soon to be overtaken by China ( according to the BBC ) so we're not an insignificant economic force in the world.
I don't know how much R&D Intel are investing in their BIOS but one possible benefit to them would be gaining extra manpower from other people interested in improving their BIOS and potentially a bigger testing base to test changes.
I don't really see what they have to lose though, they are mainly interested in selling chips and the BIOS is just something they have to provide in order for them to work.
"Even though the density of Ph.D.'s in Taiwan is much high than the density in the USA, why is the USA a much better place in which to live than Taiwan?"
Erm, could it be that the measure of PhD's per square foot is totally irrelevant to measuring the "goodness" of a particular society ?
I fail to see how that was a troll !
Why don't you just think of what you want to say and then say it ?

There's no irony, the two situations aren't the same.
Maureen is a vindictive old hag and we are glad people are no longer able to read her drivel without paying her.
Scientologists are manipulative charlatans and we are interested to see how this manipulation takes place.
Please explain your reference to "shady anonymous cowards"

I agree with you.

I come up number as number 15 in Google, someday I am going to do for those 4 other more famous wannabemes
Efficiency is one thing ( the Nazis were certainly efficient ) but do they do it fairly ?

No, cops can die because other people kill them and they can also die because they "do stupid things".
Farmers can die because they "do stupid things" and they can also die because their job is inherently dangerous

Ha ha, this is the brilliant bit. I simply manufacture a totally lifelike human robot to play the part of the actress.
You are getting the same service as Greg Dyke so I don't see any reason why you shouldn't pay the same price as him for it.
It's also the case that the majority of the British Public are in favour of the licence fee, except perhaps loudmouthed whingers like yourself.
It breaks down to £10 a month which is probably less than the amount spent by an unemployed single mum on fags and cheap lager.

Hello Mr Campbell and welcome to /.

Maybe you get along better with big bright pictures but that seems pretty sensibly named and located to me.

And measuring Ph D's per capita is a measure of the "goodness" of society whereas Ph D's per square foot isn't ?
