  1. Don't disable RPC... on Win32 Blaster Worm is on the Rise · · Score: 1

    Actually this will still leave the system open to further intrustion. Best bet is to unplug from the internet,enable the Win XP firewall, then reconnect (may need reboot). Will buy you time to get back online and get the fix.

  2. Correct method to circumvent the virus on Win32 Blaster Worm is on the Rise · · Score: 4, Informative

    Since the shutdown tends to occur the moment you access the internet, do the following;

    1. Unplug internet connection
    2. Enable Win XP firewall on all valid connections
    3. Connect internet connection
    4. Download and install the patch from MS
    5. Update anti-virus or download and run the removal tool

    Good Luck!

  3. Re:You've got to be kidding me.... on Dealing with Employers Who Perform Credit Checks? · · Score: 2, Interesting
    Credit ratings are in fact accurate. If you have bad credit it is because you are not creditworthy or trustworthy in financial matters.

    Not entirely true. Since we are looking at the human factor as well, what do you do when the infallible credit agencies, or those they are working for mess up?

    I have paid off a debt only to have the company I owed money to not notify the credit agency, and now I have a bad mark on my history. That's my fault how? And how should that affect my career?

  4. More on Memory Sticks on Lust After The Sony Clie NZ90 · · Score: 1

    The Sony memory sticks are becoming more prolific with Sony products, so just about anything you get nowadays has some form of MS port, even the VEGA tvs.

    Also Sony has liscensed out over 100 MFs to create memory stick media, as well as products to support them. HP for example has printers which support MS media, and I expect more soon.

    As for more on new MS and size...

    I use MS to replace my clunky old Zips and floppies, as well as the usual use of digital media and CLIE backups. They work for damn near anything you need. Was even nice back at an old LUG meeting to see them get the PCMCIA Memory Stick reader working without skipping a beat.
