How is this man -- who has never worked outside of comedy -- going to critique actual journalists, and get taken seriously?
Ask Lenny Bruce. Or Bill Hicks. Or George Carlin. Or even David Cross. Just don't ask Gallagher.
Give me intelligent, insightful comedy over "partison hackery" any day.
If the RIAA would just take the money they are spending on lobbyists and alarmist ads in "Entertainment Weekly" and instead invest it in updating their delivery system to reflect modern technology, maybe they could stop whining about people "stealing" "their" product.
I support artists, and buy cds directly from them whenever possible. I attend concerts and other appearances, where a fair portion of the price I pay goes to the person who actually CREATED the music/art/whatever.
But it's prepostrous to think that file sharing is "stealing," when the companies themselves only give the artists a nickle out of every $20 spent on a cd. If each cd has ten songs, that means each song I "steal" is worth one-half of one penny to the artists.
COnsequently, I send a donation of $50/year (MUCH more than I've "stolen") to artists' charities, in the name of "File Sharers Everywhere."
The RIAA can cry all they want. Progress progresses. Good thing they aren't in the messenger business, or they'd fight to outlaw email.
In A new Hope, Obi-Wan sets up the Han meeting through Chewbacca. Their having a previous relationship lends merit to that little detail.
And, slightly off-topic, but if Lucas keeps bringing back characters, why can't we see the Millenium Falcon in its heyday!? The Falcon is the coolest character in all the movies.
Most liberals I know (including myself) find it very valuable to learn what the other side is thinking. In fact, the further to the left you go, the more respect you are likely to find for intelligent debate.
As Jack Ryan said in "Red October, "It is wise to know the ways of one's enemy."
Accusing us of traitorous and anti-american behavior, in fact, probably causes MORE liberals to read.
Having said that, throwing a $200k salary at anybody is a bad idea when you can't pay the rent.
Just because they own the joint doesn't mean they get to violate your privacy however they want. The fact that such invasions are commonplace only makes it more clear that we need to start standing up to protect our personal information.
For employment purposes, the only relevant part of your past is your employment history. All sorts of private info can be gleaned from credit reports. Medical information for you and your family. Marital history. Hobbies. Vacation spots. Sexual preferences.
I guess what I'm saying is that YOU own your life, no matter who employs you. I'd tell them that if they like me, my interview(s), my references, and my resume, hire me. If their HR department is so poor at determining good employees from that wealth of information, how good are they at their jobs?
That means "It is weirdly eroded surface". Aren't we all?

Antiquated, but reliable. It ran constantly for thousands of generations. Not one crash!
