    The land line telephone is taxed and regulated more by the state, federal, and whom ever got a bill passed for their cause PAC. For example a look at the FCC.gov web site and digging you might find that your telephone line is taxed and that that tax is applied to people in rural areas that would have high cost for service otherwise. In other words the basic telephone i s an example of social welfare.

    Look for the states to act first - in taxing VoIP - followed by everyone else with a Tax Lawyer.

    I for one have had enough of this and cut the land line a couple of years ago. This did cause some trouble with goods and services, for example the bank expects that you have a phone number with your name on the bill, but that is a minor issue to be worked around with another method like the tax bill on the property. What it comes down to is that the State wants your money and will come after it in many ways. It is all about the Tax.

    I have to agree that the PC is the top end platform but not for point and shoot gaming instead for simulations that require thought and this then results in the requirement for a manual and thus reading of said manual.

    Point and Kill is great if you are teaching zombies to assemble widgets at minimum wage?

    This may seem to be a good move actually as there is a new marketing push to use solicitied email by Fortune 500ers but; the fact is that some people like getting mail and some do not. Providing the means to sort it all out in the mail box should be the responsibility of the service provider or originator and not the consumer? I think not. Louisiana is pushing away new buisiness with this frivolous law.

    are in direct competition.
    After all This is all about trust.

    the credit card merchants like Visa and MC and the Banks
    and Western Union whom are in competition with this kind of service?

    Take it direct from someone that does application engineering in the industry. PLC controllers, servers, application tools, and workstations do run on Microsoft OS and have certification.

    There is a little stick in the middle of my keyboard and it works real good. I do keep a little cover on it for protection but am shure to change it when it gets too dirty or slippery. I affectionately refer to this as a 'mouse stick with condom' in non-techical conversation and this eliminates all the worry of having to talk about cleaning your balls in mixed company.

    This is the box to be bought on newspaper route delivery money. Back in the day I was able to buy and solder together a 'computer' and then add the options like address display LEDs. I cannot even remember the name of the company that pushed these out via small adds in the back of magazines but I learned the basics and it was the total package available from one company. This is a great idea and with just a few kids getting this machine for and on their own we will get the next generation off to a good solid start in the basics. Two 1802's up.

Despite the Fact that LON is a proprietary and licensed and very difficult to configure for even the application programmer is has been forced onto the US market due to the UKâ(TM) adoption. BACnet is Open and works great BTW. Be the government adopted standard and be the peopleâ(TM) standard.

    People are staying home.
    Police are wearing military style uniforms (and acting like the military).
    The National Guard is being deployed on a regular basis.
    The public is mostly pacified with mindless teebee news and news shows.
    And now the US Constitution is being used as toliet paper by the Congress.
    Today Iran compared the USA to the old USSR.

    I for one do not take this sitting down and hollar loudly; First to the local news opinion section. Then if bad enough I just write to the editors and let them have an ear full. Then I write Congress but a letter in the local media has much more effect than a letter to the person you didn't vote for last election.

    Do something, anything would be good.

    You might want to due a bit of reading before going into such a rant. The STS-107 page alone indicates the detailed level of monitoring in place. In fact Columbia had more monitoring points than the 'production' shuttles.

    So the ground camera's caught one hit from the external tank insulation, big deal. What is to say that more did not shed off before the tank was released? To put a fine point on this; it is not just the tile at risk. There is a system of gap fillers between the tile that have had problems with coming loose; specificly on Columbia in 1995

    In Fact Columbia is different in regard to changes made in these gap fillers.
