My Gods... someone ELSE has heard of this book?!?
I read this in high school, it blew my mind, never saw it again.
As for my recommendation, try: The Journeys of McGill Feighan series, by Kevin O'Donnell, Jr. A most interesting take on interstellar travel. The Hilarious Castle series, by John DeChancie (starting with Castle Perilous) Mostly fantasy, but mixes in some sci-fi. Funny reading.
