  1. Ultimate Filming Location on Secret Service Plans New Fence, Full Scale White House Replica, But No Moat · · Score: 1

The simple answer is to get a studio to build this for a movie. Market it as the ultimate White House replica. Use it for training the 99% of the year that it's not being used for filming. Everyone wins. The Secret Service doesn't throw away $8 Million and gets to pretend some one there actually has a brain.

  2. From the land of "why do you care?" on Users Decry New Icon Look In Windows 10 · · Score: 1

Windows 10 isn't even finished yet. Just stop complaining. On top of that... They are only icons. What's the big deal?

  3. Back in the day... on Ask Slashdot: Best Software To Revive PocketPCs With Windows Mobile 5-6? · · Score: 1

I had one of the original Casio Cassiopeia Pocket PC's. I remember thinking that it was the best thing ever. I could walk around with information in my pocket. Even had the network card with the dongle for reading my email. Had a 1GB IBM Micro Drive to expand the storage and play music in the car. I remember trying to install Linux on it at one point. Was only halfway successful and then the device bricked and never came back on. It was a great device at the time. But that was 15 years ago.

  4. My thoughts are... on Ask Slashdot: What Do You Consider Elegant Code? · · Score: 1

I'm all for writing awesome properly indented and commented code... speed, and the need to get most things done yesterday, leaves me satisfied with code that works and doesn't require some crazy "hack" to get around a problem I don't have time to solve the right way.

Isn't that what SMS is for?

  6. Ghost is the way to go. on Experiences w/ Drive Imaging Software? · · Score: 1

I've been using Ghost for more than 5 years without a problem. Keep in mind that I'm talking about the corporate version not the personal edition.

If you are using Windows 2000/XP you have to use Microsofts Sysprep utility in order to make the OS work properly after you have placed a ghost image on a new drive.

If you are just copying from one drive in the same computer to another you can get away without sysprep.

It's really not that hard with a little patience.

  7. We weren't going to see the clone wars anyway... on "Clone Wars" Cartoon Shorts on Cartoon Network · · Score: 2, Informative

Lucas and TPTB (Rick McCallum and others) have said in interviews that the final climactic battle of the clone wars takes place at the beginning of EP III. If they want to give us some insite as to what actually happens during the clone wars then so be it. It's not like any of this stuff was going to be on film anyway! Don't get me wrong, it would be nice to see it in full CG with the power of ILM behind it but that's not going to happen so get over it and accept that Lucas has chosen to do anything at all.
