How are the responsiveness of the Icesoft Java web browser and the Fluendo media player? I may get flamed for make this comment but I'm not too happy with the performance (speed wise) of Java application I've seen so far.
HA HA HA HA! YOU LINUX ZEALOTS!
Everytime a little bug comes up in Microsoft you SAY JOIN THE CULLT! Use our KKK sponsored software and be a GNU/hippie! Now your GNU/Hippie software is vulnverable what are you going to do about it?! You can't, thats why your going to be nerd and mod me down! Thats ALL YOU CAN DO! I PISS IN YOUR FACE!
A PROUD WINDOWS USING TROLL!
Since when did Mozilla become a part of Linux or a GNU project? Maybe some slipped it in while the kernel maintainer wasn't looking.
I didn't ask you for the proof that Bill Gates is a bastard, I already know that. Reread by previous posts as it shows that I wanted to know which of mentioned schools sold out to MS by going pro-MS due to the Gates' donations.
I guess name calling makes you smarter, huh? If you haven't noticed, I posted a link to a news website whereas you didn't bother to put one up for your claims. So who's the lazy one here? If you accuse someone of evil deeds, it's your job to prove it.
Congress has proven unwilling to listen to their constituents on this matter
I dobut that most of their constituents even know what DRM or Induce act are. Beside, they can pass all the laws that they want because I'm refusing to buy copy protected CDs and thus won't have to worry about copying it.
Actually, the activation feature of TurboTax was dropped after enough customers started to boycott TurboTax. The problem is that the majority of music CD buyers have absolutly no problems with bending over and letting RIAA have its way.
So otherwise none. Sure, the motives are there but where are the evidance of all those professors selling out by preaching Gates at those mentioned schools?
Will you, or will you not, push the re-implementation of the budget rules that required that all spending increases be balanced by tax increases, and tax cuts by spending cuts? Why or why not?
Actually, the Money magazine has an article that shows that while Bush's current tax policy (actually the Congress writes tax laws but that's another story) will drive the country further into debt, Kerry's proposed programs will cost 2 to 3 times as much as the increase revenue from repealing Bush's tax cuts. This means that both of them at counting on the growth to balance the budget.
But that also applies to science as well. Take the moon landing for example. How do you really know for sure it happend unless you where there to witness it in person? In fact, there are people who proclaim that it never happend. And with some scientists getting busted for false research, whenever we accept a scientific fact, we are placing out faith on the scientists.
And if you believe that Bush can create his own laws and Congress is helpless, take a look at this article.
I had a Win2k server in my garage during the last 3 years. It has rebooted 4 times: 3 power outages, one hardware change.
So you are saying that you never patched that server?
Granted, from personal experience, a well setup Windows machine on good hardware is pretty stable but I believe that the reason why Windows machines cannot acheive ultra long up time is due to the required reboots after certain patches, although 2000 requires less reboots than NT4 and the same thing can be said for 2003 vs 2000.
You should be able to pick up FF7 for about $20 at the local stores. Personally, I thought that FF7 had the best story line of all FF series with FF X being the second.
Bin Laden could then direct the money to support local institutions in many countries, in an attempt to radicalize those communities and give him a base to recruit and train.
Above statement is from the CNN article on 9/11 commission. As far as I know, Gates didn't mandate that the school only teach MS stuff as the requirement for donation. Do you have a proof to back up your statements other then the usual "tin foil hat" response? And any professors who teaches MS just because of the donation are sellouts, and any student who becomes MS fan just because a building was named after Gates is a moron.
I can't stand people who bash Bill and his foundation. Sure bash Microsoft if you must, but why the foundation?
It's probably because he makes most of people here look bad with his charity work. You always see posts on slashdot about helping the poor and promoting open source software but how many slashdotters actually put their money where their mouth is?
I'll most likely get flamed by slashdotters who will complain that they never have any money left over to donate, yet somehow find ways to pay for their high speed internet connection, cell phones, ultra fast computers, games, and other useless toys.
I'm not a Gates fan but him donating money, even for PR reasons, helps more than a bunch of geeks who bitches that more needs to be done for the poor, yet blows all their discretionary on toys.
Sadly, those TV ads are still running promising high paying jobs in IT with just half to one year traning (at least in my area) and since TV ads aren't cheap, that means that there are fools who still fall for them.
While I think that events under number 2 is quite realistic, it'll be highly unrealistic to not to have a backup of $100M worth of irreplaceable source code.
More the better as most non techies still thinks that OSS are free as in beer and also believe that you can only make money in the software business by selling them.
It's sad when one of the most insightful comment in this thread doesn't get modded "insightful". There are too many people on Slashdot that bash others for being biased, yet they counter them with equally biased facts.
Why don't they do what Mozilla for Windows does and come up with an option to pre-load itself to the memory during the start up process?

Religion on the other hand may be taken on faith.

But you still haven't provided any solid proof.
First, it was Beer found to be as healthy as wine, and now games being used to improve medicine. Now the geeks will be known for our healthy ways!

I'm not sure about that. Personally, I find Bill O'Reilly almost as biased as Michael Moore.
The US Government continues to tell American Business with its tax code and trade policy to get the hell out of the USA and it is working!
I'm not implying that you are wrong but can you provide us with these tax codes for further research?
From what I've read, they have VB.net hasn't been reproduced in mono yet.

freely available, high quality Linux operating systems accompanied by certifications, service, and support options intended
Best of luck to you and show them that it is quite possible to make money off of supporting open source softwares.
